Default My baby is having kidney surgery nxt mnth plz help me with info

Hi everyone, My gorgeous little boy is having major surgery next month and im starting to get a little worried. He is 6mnth old atm but will be 7 and a half months when he has his surgery. His right kidney is not functioning so they want to remove it and perform reconstruction surgery on his left kidney (ureter reimplantation) He has a cutaneous ureterostomy atm to drain his left kidney. Has anybody out there had a child infant or older had a kidney removed or any other type of major surgery?? Im really not sure what to expect.. Any feed back would be appreciated

My daughter had the same operation, it was all very straight forward. From memory she was in surgery for about an hour. They don't remove the kidney or anything... They just cut the ureter and insert it deeper in to the bladder. I hope it all goes well

Sorry I just re read your post about them removing the right kidney! Poor little munchkin... I'm sure it will all be fine, though nothing anybody says will make you stress less!
