    Default Feeling Lonely

    Hi all....
Up until I went on maternity leave I worked full time in a childcare centre. My dd is now 7 months old and I'm feeling a bit lonely and friendless.
I can find it hard to make friends as I'm shy at first and new to the whole SAHM thing. Im really just looking for people to chat to, make friends, get a hobby etc
I guess I'm feeling lost especially as dh works long hours.

Hello, I just found this part of the forums!

I just resigned after being on extended maternity leave for the last 4 years, so even though I've been a SAHM for the last 4 years it's now official! Lol
I have an almost 4 year old DD and a 21 month old DS.
I've never had allot of friends and found when I had kids I had even less as they were at different stages of their lives and we have just drifted apart. I to am a bit shy and my DH works allot to so I am home with the kids all the time and do all the feeding, bathing etc and they have become really attached to me so it's hard if I ever do go out. It's like I do 99% of the parental caring and he comes home to play with them!
Your not alone, I think it's easy to feel lonely, like you have lost yourself when you are a SAHM. Feel free to PM me if you want to chat, maybe we can exchange email or connect on Facebook (feels like my only social output!) or something.

Thank you for replying! It's good to know I'm not alone. It's exactly the same here. Daddy comes home to play when it's supposed to be settling down time ! Lol.
I really don't want to go back to work as I used to work in childcare and I want to be the one looking after my baby.
I just hope we can keep making ends meet
    Where abouts are you from?

    Hello Kristyb
I too just found this thread. I am lonely as anything! I have a beautiful 13 mth old DD and due DS on Monday! DD was a restless difficult baby and coupled with the fact DH and i are not australuan, have no friends living around us and no family here I hardly got out and about the last year! I have mothers group but thats it! I had a massive circle of friends in ireland and really miss that support here.

Im really afraid now with 2 so close in age that im going to get stuck in the house for another year! On the other hand i feel lucky to be able to be home with my children, it just would be easier if i wasnt just trying to make friends aswell!

I am in northern suburbs sydney if you are nearby!! Xx

Thanks for all the replies! I was beginning to think I sounded a bit desperate hahaha.
I live in Brisbane ... We are getting married in 2 1/2 weeks So there's something to keep me busy but I think I've already done everything I can do for now.
