Red face How much did the whole preg cost

Hey just wondering I have phi and looking into the costs so we can save some money to go private as there are more out of pocket exspences then there used to be. Can you break down the costs eg cost of each visit and how many you have to have also the delievey fee and management fee. I know most of that is not covered but all in hospital stuff is by my phi, just the whole numbers are fine i can look up the rebates from medicare??? We are going to start trying next year so every dollar counts? Also did you have to prebook your husband into tamara as well or they accomadate if he wants to stay. Thank you for your help

We pay about 200/ month for PHI with extras... But I'm sure there s cheaper ones out there.

As for costs for having a baby at Tamara with PHI- dr's visits are about 75/ visit (cant remember exactly- but only slightly more than GP visit) but we did shared care with usual GP for most appointments anyway as we don't live in tamworth.
Dr Holebone charges around the $3000 mark for delivery fees etc, but you do get some back as well as can claim on your tax,
We paid $250 for our hospital excess otherwise hospital costs were covered. Hubby paid about $100 for food during stay (meals are provided but charged at a low fee- totally worth it! The food is yum!)

That's all I can remember- but I would happily pay the money again- loved Tamara!

Hi, I'm 12 weeks and i'm tossing up between Tamworth and Dubbo. I live in Coonabarabran, So i have to travel either way. Tamara sounds better if my Husband can stay. We have PHI so will that make it cheaper for us?? Do you have any idea how much out of pocket expenses might be?? Thanks

Just so you know, in dubbo you have to deliver at the base and then transfer to private for care if you want to go private.

I am booked to give birth at Dubbo base then transfer to private afterwards. I have been told that I will have no out of pocket expenses!
