Amandamoo - we are looking to use gift ov life but havent confirmed any donors yet. We will probably look at August smetime. From my understand their cost is 15960 (including VAT or 14,000 excluding VAT) which works out to approx $1600 using approx exchange rate of 9.7.

We are also looking to use CFC as well.

I have found gift ov life very very helpful with any questions I have and get back to me straight away.

Misleo - for your POAS result. Have everything crossed for your BT this morning. X

Helenmac - thank you for thinking of me. All good with the ante-natal. For a number of reasons we have an elective CS booked for the first week of May, so only 9 weeks until we meet our Springbokkie. Two of my dear friends organised a baby shower yesterday. Still pinching myself. Never thought i would ever have the opportunity. They did such a beautiful job and my other attending friends and family were so overwhelmingly generous. This little one is so lucky to be coming into such a supportive environment, our friends have been amazing.

Amandamoo - great to read you are still around Hun. If you contact Nurture and CFC they are very responsive and not pushy. we didn't end up going with either due to donor choice, but they gave me plenty of info nonetheless.

Jennilee - thinking of you. Still have everything crossed for you.

To all new ladies - you are all amazing and brave for taking the step. Congratulations, this is the first step for good things to come. To the dear lady who thanked me for starting the thread. I cannot take that glory. It was wonderful Jodie W who started this for us. Wishing you all the best with your journeys and the wonderful and wild ride ahead. Xx

Hope&prayer - I am sorry your experience was not a nice one and that you didn't get a BFP. That said, sounds positive that you were able to get some frosties from the process.

As for clinics, we had a stressful experience with our Joburg clinic and would not go through them again. In fairness to them however, they did get me pregnant and they were undergoing renovations. They did not do the formal patient checking that occurs here and I did find that a tad freaky also. But at the end of the day, that is clearly the way they roll, more relaxed than here.

As for CFC, even though we didn't go through them for our donor cycle, they were extremely supportive in assisting my follow up BT and also storing some of hubby's sperm just in case this didn't work out. I just turned up ad hoc and Dr Wisewedel was wonderful, he spent more time with me than my Joburg specialist, was very reassuring and then delivered the good news (even though it was for our Joburg specialist, who incidentally to date we have never heard from post TF) and provided further medical instruction to increase meds. If we ever go back I will be using CFC.

As for frozen embryo transportation, the issue is with the conflicting legislation. In many Australian states the identity of the donor must be known compared to Saffa, where the identity must not be known. This is where the problem lies, so it is not so much a problem with CFC, but rather an issue with competing Australian law. If we had of been successful in gaining embryos, I was going to have a go at seeking some judicial interpretation via an application to the Supreme Court of Queensland. That said, we didn't get any embies to freeze.

I really don't understand with so many couples leaving Australia for ED cycles the government doesn't reassess the laws.

    Hi Ladies

Crystal, I agree. Maybe one day they will change this!

Thanks so much Ianed and all the other wonderful ladies before me that have shared your experience, it is because of all your generosity that I have the courage to go down this path.
A quick question, if I can't get meds from FS or Gp, anyone use the International pharmacy?

    Thanks,
    babydust to you all

Cartia...The basics you will be able to get from your GP. I printed off the medical paperwork from CFC and took it to the GP with me. He gave us our requests for testing and a script. Anything we need, he will provide if able to. I am not sure about the more specific stuff like pessaries.

    Missleo...How's things???

Me..... First milestone!!!!! Got the contract from CFC for our donor!!!!!!!

    Donna x
