    Hi Cartia,
I have just been to my old GP, he was the one that gave me my referral to my FS. I got them to give me copies of all the letters they had received from my FS. I guess I took the wimpy way! Only trouble is that it didnt provide all the nitty gritty stuff like.
I have re-done all of my bloods and screening testing and with the stuff I picked up from the GP, it has been enough for CFC. So, I have scanned it all and emailed it through to CFC.
We are just waiting confirmation as to our chosen donors availability for June but at this stage it seems ok.
So much to do!!!! Having said that, geez its great when you read the success stories.!!!

    Hi Ladies

Thanks Ianed and Donna, thats good advice. I think I will get my new FS to request them as the last time I needed a copy of a test result from my old FS the receptionist acted like I was asking for a copy of their financials for the year!! It made me uncomfortable so I wont do that again.
Donna, you're a bit further along than me in this process, we're still deciding when to go but the sooner the better! I am hoping for May/June.
Thanks again Ladies, hope you all have a great weekend.

    Hello All

Wow, how busy is this thread now - its great to see!

how funny is that going to class's and finding someone else that had been through the same experience..... it goes to show more aussies go over to SA than peole realise.

Im not sure who recently asked about a coordinator here ( sorry Im full of the flu) i was able to use my fertlity clinic - they have given me the blood tests i require and will also do my first scan..... plus gave me the medication i required, they have been fantastic.... If your in Perth im happy to give you there details....

Missleo brillant cycle am jealous you guys are still there.... there so much more I still wanted to do...

WJ - your time has come to meet your boys - Enjoy it Im sure it will e everythig you have dreamed of. Hoping it s quick and easy

AFM: well spent a very nevous nght at work last night - my second beta numbers came back at hcg at 735 and progesterone had dropped from 312 to 174 - which scared me as i had low progesterone last time we mc ( which was exactly about this time in the cycle) my clinic here put me on pessaries - as due to time differance in SA i was unable to speak to my Dr......

I would love to now what your ladies numbers were if you can remember ????

Jennilee - hope all is going well for you

    take care all

Hi Miss Leo... a few days after the transfer I had a bit of cramping and felt like my stomach was 'stretching.' At the time was worried that it meant it was a failed cycle. Also had a stabbing pain on my left hand side.

Am now pregnant with twins, so it was a good sign!

    Hi Abundance and welcome

Yes I used donor eggs australia purely because I would have had to find a new FS to do my scans etc anyway and I was also a little time poor going into this process and needed some assistance. If you are experienced with IVF and you already have a FS who is willing to help then I don't think it is necessary to use them really...you still have to pay for all your visits and scans so their fee is on top and just for the service of organising your scans, sending your files & coordinating your med schedule - you could do all of this yourself if you have the time and can't spare the extra money. You should also be aware that they will only use the agency Egg Donations South Africa, which is fine because they do have a lot of donors available and have been great to deal with...I was already interested in a couple of their donors so would have used them anyway. I'm assuming you are in Sydney? There is a chemist in Bondi Junction that stocks all the meds.

If you want some more specific info about them shoot me through a PM.

Cartia - I went to my specialist and DEMANDED copies of relevant stuff from my file and had the list of further tests that I needed. They handed it over no problems. They are good to have onside when you need to have the progesterone pessaries (crinone) prescribed (when you get home) as in Aust only a specialist can prescribe them. Despite my FS being misleading about my chances in getting pregnant on my own, they were very helpful.

Nicole72 - Those HCG number look great woo hoo. In regards to progesterone I was really hesitant to write this as I know your experience with the clinic in Perth has been good. But I really wanted to share my experience in case it helps you now. I was previously with the same clinic in Perth and unfortunately they (or I should say the specific FS) did not manage my progesterone issue at all well. It took me three years and a lot of pain and heartache to learn all about progesterone. The clinic did not pick up that I had aproblem producing progesterone for three years (despite my low readings) and they would only use pessaries. I found out from my new FS in Perth and my FS in SA that pessaries are not as good asCrinone or PIO for someone with a problem producing progesterone. On pessaries I wasn’t producing enough progesterone to sustain a pregnancy. I don’t know your medical history but if progesterone has been a problem for you in the past see if the FS can switch you over to Crinone, it is absorbed much better by the body. I am so happy about your positive result so just wanted to share in case that does help.

Miss Leo - I did have slight cramping about a day after the transfer but I thought that it was the progesterone. However, aside from that I had no real symptoms of being pregnant and was shocked to get a positive. Everyone is so different so I wouldn’t read too much into anything.

Cartia - Welcome to the thread I look forward to reading about your journey.

DJSHears - Wow June it will be here before you know it. How exciting.

Helenmac – I will have everything crossed that your levels are ok.

Abundance1 - Welcome to the thread also. I think it's an individual choice to use a coordinator. I didn't have a co-ordinator in Australia, although my new fert clinic in Perth were wonderful and provided me with some of the meds I needed. When I got back from SA my GP managed me as in I got my blood test referral from him. Once I received a positive result I was then referred over to an Ob. The progesterone in oil I ordered from the international chemist (although I would advise you to buy extra when you are in SA). I was glad not to be micro managed by a fertility clinic as I find the constant scans, BT's etc too anxiety producing. Other ladies however like the frequent reassurance that all is going ok so I really think it is a personal decision but yes it is possible to manage yourself without a coordinator in Australia. Oh and I couldn't believe how quick the FS in SA was at responding to my questions. They are great at communicating.

Laned - It’s amazing how many people are going to SA. It’s so good when you meet someone else who has been through the same thing, it’s like you have an unspoken common bond. So how is 3rd trimester treating you?

WJ – I can’t believe the day is almost here. It’s so cool and amazing and exciting and wonderful... J

Thank you for your post and congrats on your pregnancy. Can I ask if you need to have scans in Australia before you go to SA? What donor agency would you recommend? I have just started researching agencies. Have decided on CFC in Cape Town. Can I ask where you went and age of your donor. Did you get pregnant first time? Sorry for all the questions

Nicole - I feel for you Hun, it just seems we can never just take a back seat and enjoy our precious pregnancies without worry. As for my progesterone, I cannot truly recall, but was advised that they look for anything above 90. That said, I would get on to it. When I returned, I was originally on the POI and orally progesterone. When I had a bleed at 6 weeks, even though my levels were fine my Aus FS had me on additional Crinone x 3 daily. So I was fully loaded. I cannot remember, but are you having the POI or just the Crinone. I would seek advice in relation to having the whole lot (POI, oral and Crinone) too much won't hurt. I know it is so hard, but hang in there Hun.

SS- wow you don't have long to go now. I bet you are getting really excited. Thankfully I am well. Apart from the usual anxiety and hoping that my little Springbok arrives safe n sound, I am just loving every bit of this experience, to the point I don't care about the occasional MS, swollen feet, or tiredness. All those symptoms are just a blessing and a wonderful reminder of how bloody lucky I am. X

Abundance - We went through a clinic in Joburg, as my donor would not travel to CFC. We were not all that impressed with the Joburg clinic and had quite a few probs. that said, they got me my forever wanted BFP. On travelling to Cape Town, as a contingency we left some sperm with CFC. I meet Dr Wisewedel there and he was truly fabulous. CFC was in complete contrast to the Joburg clinic, in that CFC were organised, very patient focused and were extremely helpful in facilitating my BT and further medical instruction and I wasn't even their patient. In fact, it was Dr Wisewedel who communicated my positive test and not my Joburg specialist. I would definitely choose Cape Town and CFC.
