Hi girls! Hope you are all well and those little bubbas are growing strong.

After Midnite's question about ICSI I've been reading a little more and spoke to an IVF nurse friend who has warned my not to do a 2 embie transfer with ICSI because of the increased risk of identical multiples, especially if they get to 5 day blasts.

Has anyone here ended up with identicals? Or do you know of a thread on bubhub about ICSI and identicals? I tried to do a search but couldn't find anything much. Who else did ICSI?

    x

PS - WJ I saw your post on the 27th come up in my update email but you a right I can't see it here....very strange. Glad everything is looking great on your 24wk scan

Hi MissLeo all of my cycles were ICSI it is recommended for the older eggs the older the egg the more fragile the shell, again with donor egg we did ICSI. I haven't heard any indication in my research of identical twins caused by ICSI. I'm sure it has happened like it can happen naturally but it's not something I would be concerned about. You have more of a risk of twins by putting back 2 embies. The 2 to turn into 4 though, I would have thought highly unlikely.

Hi everyone sorry a me post this time. As most of you are aware I was doing a FET of my own egg, well, it didn't work. Hubby wants to go back to SA again but frankly, I'm not keen at this stage. I'm grateful for my little SA bubba and am happy with what I have, I am truly blessed. I won't say never but I will say its highly unlikely. Anyhow, my journey is now over and I wish you all the best, I will be checking in from time to time.

WJ good luck may you have a stress free delivery with no complications.

everyone else going to SA in the new year, good luck may you come back with positives.

HelenM I really hope the docs have sorted stuff out for you and that you come back with a springbok on board.

sorry if I have missed anyone

    Hi Ladies,

Sorry I have been MIA for so long. After my hysteroscopy/endrometrial biopsy mid August my AF just disappeared and I have been on a mission to find out why.

After going on provera and still no bleed I was convinced I had a blockage. To cut a long story short and with a GP that wouldn't believe my concerns I finally found a GP that would listen and refer me to a Professor that specialised in Ashermans Syndrome (I found him due to my own research).

I was certain I had some sort of blockage as I could feel ovulation and AF symptoms but no withdrawal bleed. The Professor immediately booked me in for a MRI scan of my uterus and an operative hysteroscopy last week. As a result I was disagnosed with Stage 1 Ashermans Syndrome. I had 1 adhesion in my cervix completely closing it off!! I now feel like sending a letter to the first GP and saying "I TOLD YOU SO"!!!! She even had the nerve to tell me... I quote: You have been googling too much and all the info online was clouding my mind". She upset me soooooo much but I'm glad I followed my instincts and found another GP that would listen!!!

Anyway I have a follow up apointment on Thurs as the Professor said I also might have a vascular blood flow issue and he wants to review the MRI images. Thats my update!!!

Jodie - I'm so sorry that the last try with your eggs didn't work. Wishing you all the very best for the future. Thanks for my well wishes.

Karen - Congratulations on the birth of your little baby boy.

Nicole - That so exciting you are leaving in 60 days!!! You must be so excited and will have such a lovely holiday too!

WJ - So exciting that you have reached 24 weeks. Not long now and you'll be a mummy!!

Laned - I hope you are progressing well in your pregnancy and how many weeks are you now?

Misleo & Jennilee - All the best for your exciting journey in February. I think that's when I'll be going back for round 2 (hopefully).

Emski - Good luck with your final attempt in Feb. Fingers crossed.

Midnight - That's very exciting that you may be going down the SA path next year. Wishing you every success.

Hi to all the other ladies Sumershine, babywish, BB4me, wishmeluck. I hope I haven't forgotten anyone. It's been so long since I've been on here it's lovely to see there are so many newbies. This amazing thread is helping so many realise that there are other options out there for us!!!

    Hi there

Sorry have been MIA things have been quite busy and our place we have had 4 lots of visitors since Melb Cup!!

We are still looking to SA and hubbie 110% on board which is fantastic. We arent firming up any details until after our next cycle in January - my AF was late and FS away during December so had to postpone to Jan.

We are thinking of middle of the year of going to SA. We have planned trip to Perth in February and home to NZ in May so thinking July or August. If it wasnt for the pre planned trips we would definitley have looked to go early next year.

Every day I keep an eye on the exchange rate and the rand still seems pretty good with the aussie dollar.

We are also tossing up whether we use egg donor and hubbie sperm or sperm donor as well.m We have not had great results even from TESA and we are thinking from a $$ perspective whether we go with less risk or take the chance on his swimmers.

I am glad that everyone else seems to be trucking along. I feel like we are in limbo until early in the new year.

I think we will probably go with Nurture or Gift ov Life - both of them have been quite helpful to us in finding out all the information that we require.

I know a few people who did ISCI IVF in NZ who ended up with identical twins - from 5 day blast transfers. I think ISCI has slightly higher chance of twinning.

Have a good night all and it is great logging to read about peoples successes.
