    Hi Ladies,

Just a quick one from me as work has just been a bit crazy but we had our first scan today and we saw two little heartbeats up on the screen! Dh and I are obviously over the moon but also a bit in shock - in a good way! Of course putting two embryo's back you always know twins are a possibility but we have always put two embryo's back for each of our 12 cycles (as well as another 4 FET's) so we never really thought that would happen to us - but seeing those two little yolk sac's and heartbeats up on the screen was really quite amazing! BUT still really early days so we will be counting down the days till the 12 week scan (in 6 weeks time).

Sorry I haven't got time for personal's but I just wanted to pop on and share our good news. Big HI to everyone!

    Jed

Jed - what fabulous and amazing news. Congratulations to you both. Xxx

AFM - I am pooooped, but scan today revealed one happy springbok grooving and shaking with FHR of 180. Still old blood visible, but FS was not concerned. I will still continue with weekly scans.

Much love to all, now of to bed. Xx

Awesome news JED - fantastic news.

laned - glad your scan went well today.

We havent done much more about SA - Have been looking at some donor pages as well as the info on aussie egg donors as well.

Can any of you ladies tell me how much $$ approx it is to do a cycle in Australia if you are lucky enough to get an egg donor here.

AFM - tonight made an offer on a property and will find out tomorrow if it is accepted or not. Scary times really - it is affordable a deceased estate so needs a bit of work but is totally livable at the moment.

    Have a good night ladies.

Jed and laned - how awesome news for you two

midnite - I'm under the understanding the cost to do a donor cycle in Australia is a full cycle for the donor and a frozen cycle for yourself. My BF has offered her eggs to me but my DH isn't sure if he would prefer to use hers or go over to SA and be anonymous... I'm not sure either what I would prefer, but feel totally blessed I have been given the option.

Hello everyone, Wow! a few days away, and there has been so much action on our busy thread!

Jed, Congratulations!!! twins! Hope you are feeling ok and they are not giving you too much trouble settling in. As far as the shopping trip to buy fat pants, I got a pair of jeans but after a few mins walking around, i feel like Im wearing a nappy...so the decorative beltrings on the back are coming in handy to hold em up!!

Laned, I am enjoying reading your updates, and am so relieved that all is well with your little springbok.

Helenmac, great to hear that your plan is in motion, it wont be too long before youre back on the plane and heading back to Cape!

Midnite 01 I did IVF with CFC and whilst they couldnt encourage going overseas for donation, they were very helpful in prescribing meds for the trip. I got referrals for scans from the GP and I took the list of tests required, and she put them on the pathology form for me. Very easy!

Its back to reality this week for moi...hols over, and now a sprint to the finish in 10 weeks...then off to NZ for a wedding and Christmas, then a week of LSL, then I start bubba leave...yay! This week (at 18 weeks on Sat) I have developed a wee bump...women at work all want to see it, but they are not impressed when i give em a peek...I feel huge, but they just comment on how small I am!! Ive never been a big girl, and I am long, but I do think I look pregnant...finally!!!
Anyway, hope youre all well, WJ xx

Thanks Wilson Joy - who do you see at CFC - are you based in Melbourne? I currently see Dr Eskander at Northpark in Melbourne - who has been great and broached egg donor with me the other day as a Plan B.

Bit of a bummer property fell through - we offered reasonable offer and was gazumped by an offer 40K above ours!! Obviously they wanted it very bad.

It looks like for us CFC is the way to go and will prob plan for either mid year or September - I notice Emirates has some cheaper flights up until March and then from September.

Can you ladies tell me who went to Capetown clinic what sort of egg numbers did your donors get? I have been looking into Nurture and they have been very helpful.

    Have a good night ladies.

Hi Midnight, I saw David Wilkinson in St Kilda Rd. Very nice guy. As far as numbers of eggs, our first cycle was not successful, and all we got was 2 day three embryos. We froze sperm, and chose a new donor before we left Cape Town, and used Gift Ov Life( the second time) who were FANTASTIC! On our next cycle, we got 12 eggs and they all fertilised. Out of that 12, we were left with 5 blasto's on day 5, 2 of which were hatching, and I am now 18 weeks pregnant with twins! So luck really does come in, but the odds of success far outweigh trying to use my crap eggs! Cape Town is lovely in summer.

Hello lovely ladies. Sorry I have been MIA. I have found the whole first trimester anxiety producing and sometimes when I go on Bubhub and read things that are happening to other people it makes me feel even more anxious (if that makes sense). But I have been thinking about you all and wishing for BFPs all round.

I was so happy to read all the news. Congrats to Laned and Jed, great progress so far with the Springboks.

WJ I'm in the same boat as you. Normal pants don't fit but maternity pants are too big. My stretch pants are running out of stretch, they need an inbetween pant. Sounds like you have a busy time ahead but sounds like fun.

Midnite my donor gave us 21 eggs from which we got 6 great looking embryo's. We went with Nurture and I could not recommend them enough. My advice would also be to look for a young donor. This also helps if you do get pregnant as they work out your risk for DS and other chromosomal abnormalities based on the donor's age (much lower chance with a younger donor).

AFM - I am 13 weeks and had my screening scan this week. Baby doing good, it's very emotional seeing baby on the screen as I never thought I would ever get to this stage. I have been scared to tell people but I normally have a flat stomach and my stomach is far from flat now so people are either guessing or staring at me. I guess the game is up.

Thanks again girls for all of your lovely warm wishes. I am sure they are filtering through to this little feisty springbok.

Amanda - I know a lovely lady in Brizzy, who has done a previous cycle in SA and is planning a return to CFC on her own due to costs and would love a travel companion. Have sent you a PM. Contact me if you are interested in getting in contact with her.

Wilson - wow you have so much going on at the moment, I admire your stamina. I am flat out with work and housework at present.

Midnight - congrats on making the courageous leap. I am so proud of you and also very excited for the journey that lies ahead for you. Oh and poo about the house, the very same thing happened to us years ago, ironically for the same amount. In the end we ended up with a much better place. Hope the same goes for you too.

Summershine - I completely understand not wanting to be freaked out the fear we all carry on behalf of our such wanted little ones is so often very overwhelming. That said, I am stoked at your news. It is wonderful that you have reached such an important milestone how beautiful to have seen your little one, a relief I am sure. As for telling people all our friends and work colleagues know, however I haven't told my family who are interstate. Likewise, I am still worried and as you will see have not even had the guts to change my signature yet. We are hoping to surprise my mum and her partner by visiting them in Adelaide for Christmas and giving them grandma and grandpa presents. Can't wait to see their faces.
