Gosh, everyone's cakes are amazing!! So clever

Have a few questions for you all... (sorry in advance for hijacking thread)

Does anyone have a good recipe for fondant? I made one from a recipe found on the back of an icing sugar packet which turned out great but it had raw egg white in it (so it was great to practice with but I'd never serve it up to anyone).

Also I found some cheap piping nozzles on eBay from o/s ? Anyone had any experience buying something like that or should I stick with a quality brand?

When u make a cake for someone (like a birthday pressie) do you give it as gift or do you buy a pressie to?

Loving all of these cakes girls! So clever and creative. Babyboys - thankyou. Dh and I love it but it certainly is time consuming. We consider it a labour of love and we enjoy doing it for loved ones. Unfortunately we just don't have the time to make a business of it. Or we'd have to get heaps quicker!

OMG DiamondEyes your christmas babushkas are sooo cute, they are all great actually.

I really want to start doing some more cake decorating but I fear I won't be at the same standard as some of the fantastic things you ladies have shared.

I enjoy cake decorating but save it for events like birthdays. I love planning my DD's cakes every year
I'm not great at it but it's fun. I have just taught myself through trial and error and with a bit of help from good old youtube

DiamondEyes - Everything in your folder is wonderful, you have some real talent when it comes to decorating. Especially love the santa cuppies

I'm also after a good fondant recipe, need to experiment a bit with it before tackling DS2's 2nd Birthday cake in Oct.
