I forgot to say about the babycentre email's mammalinz, if you've only just signed up, once they have your due date you'll get the email on the day that you start the next gestational week, i.e. mine come on Sundays. Otherwise I'm not sure what the issue is!

Lilwish I was just reading up on the paid parental leave/baby bonus, perhaps as a teacher they wouldn't class school holidays as being 'out of work'. I'd give them a call, I think working for Education QLD will stand you in very good stead! The $75,000 joint income is for the 6 month period following the birth, so if you take at least 6 months off you won't be earning and if your partner doesn't earn over $75K in 6 months then you're all good. That's how I've read it anyway!

Ah, glad you've stopped feeling anxious mammalinz! 5 months sounds so much more pregnant than xxweeks, you know?!!? Have you had the gestational diabetes test yet? I'm not liking the giving up cakes and muffins business, surely that's our right as expectant mothers?!?!

my [apparently] 28 week scan is nearer to 32 weeks so maybe I just wasn't listening properly to the doctor.

    Is anyone else exhausted?

Question hello, am reading nasty statistics at 3am

I'm new and hope you wouldn't mind another traveller?

I'm 40, 7 weeks along and anxious. I had a miscarriage earlier in the year at this point plus I have just caught a cold & sore throat and can't sleep... this, of course, has me wondering about birth defects caused by high temps. I am a champion negative thinker right now.

This is what I know so far:
    LMP 10/8/11
    EDD 18/5/12
    Blood test 12/9/11 HCG 628 PROG 37
    Blood test 15/9/11 HCG 1851 PROG 31
    Blood test 20/9/11 HCG 6167 PROG 31
    Started progesterone pessaries 200mcg 2x daily 21/9/11
Ultrasound scan est. 6 week 4 days 28/9/11, heart beat 106bpm

So far, my specialist hasn't liked any of these results except the 1st BT, so I am striving to keep my expectations low.

I was being treated for luteal phase defect (low progesterone) _ no trouble falling pregnant, it's the staying pregnant part.

I had two successful pregnancies in my 20s.

I am also concerned about my weight, it was 105kg at conception, and I gained 3kg immediately _ this appears to be pure bloat. I was 88kg on the day I gave birth to twins at 28yo. So, tonight I feel ill, fat and old and scared that I am days away from a third early miscarriage for the year....

does your group need an Eeyore??

    good morning ladies

Just looking at baby pandas born in china... soooo cute!

Welcome, Pru40: don't worry about being an eeyore . We all have our down days - esp valid when yr sick and FS tells you he's not confident. don't worry too much about yr cold. i had a cold at about the same time when I was preg last time & FS assured me they're stronger than that - a cold won't matter. My prob was they had a weak heartbeat. Have you really got temp or just worried?
I have my fingers crossed that this one sticks for you. the progesterone should help.

Siennaray, welcome - hope yr enjoying yr hols . sorry to hear you've had bad news about yr high risk. I worry about that a lot too. but then if it was the lotto odds, we'd be less likely to think we'd win... good luck for mon.

LizzieG, thanks for the info. i thought it was combined annual income of $75000, which I thought was very low.... I WISH DH earned more than that in 6mths . I'll have to look into the 6wk school hols, but added up my hrs so far and I'm not as far behind as I thought... glad I did that yesterday cos I slept really well last nt

I've signed up to BH newsletters but might also do babycentre if its good.

don't know about giving up the good stuff either... haven't we already given up enough good stuff? surely all in moderation...? Don't want gest diabetes tho. I have a friend preg with twins who has it and it's a pain in the butt.
As for my belly growing, I've also lost 2kg...??? go figure!
Still had lots of cramping on & off esp when doing anything physical (walked dog yest and didn't get far b4 had to sit on log and wait for cramp to subside then come home. This morning got them when emptying dishwasher. Just called nurses - she said avoid exercise if in pain til scan, so have extended my gym mem suspension another month. could just be fibroids knocking about in there. would rather cramps than ms tho ... so far so good

LizzieG – the gestational diabetes test has not happened yet – I think that will be my next OB appointment – fun fun. I have stopped all the junk food in anticipation of the test. Whenever I do cheat, I end up paying for it, as my body expels it .. I am exhausted, not I am having trouble sleeping, which in turn makes me more exhausted
Pru40 – welcome. Why are you readying nasty stats – to do with being over 40 and pregnant? Oh the first 12 weeks are a nightmare, I spent the whole time worrying about high temps etc. I think it goes with the territory! Hopefully you will stay pregnant & this one will stick – it is so difficult navigating the early stages of pregnancy, I had a near miscarriage and was put on bed rest for weeks, awful. At that point I put on a lot of weight. Now that I am out of the danger zone, I am doing moderate exercise and eating better. It balances out in the end. Oh I also bloated badly at first. It will pass

Siennaray – your NT results don’t sound terrible. 1:176. Remember 1:176 is a statistic not a guarantee. At least the amnio will give you an answer / guarantee. I am also having a C-section, also. Due the 29th Jan but having her on the 11th! Good luck with your appointment on Monday, let us know how you go

Lilwish – Ah so jealous of your 2 kg loss, that is fantastic (I should be so lucky) . You are sounding in good spirits

Hey Mammalinz, you and I are pretty much equal in reverse timing this week, I'm 16 weeks and you just have 16 weeks more to go til your beautiful daughter arrives, weeeeeeee!! Are you feeling abit more prepared? Good luck with the GD test. I was hoping the test was at 20 weeks so I could get it over and done with!

Siennaray I have heard stories of people having downwards of a 1:10 chance in the past few months and they have all had healthy babies, try not to worry about it too much, the stats automatically take our age as a major factor and ultimately that may have no baring whatsoever, they can't test that. My doc also said that the NT is only 90% accurate so I know it's a worry but an amnio will hopefully take all that away for you. Lucky you being on hols, have you gone anywhere nice?

Hey Pru40, welcome to our little group. I hope you're feeling a bit more cheery about things. As Mammalinz says we're all fearful in the first 12 weeks and, certainly for me, that hasn't quite subsided, altho I do feel alot more positive I still have moments of doubt, out of sheer self-preservation I guess. Weight wise, there's nothing more any of us can do than just eat healthily and do some mild exercise ..... said the girl who just hoed down a sausage sandwich and is eyeing up the donuts! ;o) It's hard and I'm keeping everything crossed for you that this is your time. Think positive!

Lilwish I was the same, I lost 2kg in the first couple of months, and then put on about 4kg in the next. It seems as tho my thighs have moved up to my belly, which is nice cos I have a good excuse for a large one of those! Glad you're feeling abit more relaxed about the money situation. Our niece was saying today (she has a bub and a toddler) that she get's $300 family benefit every two weeks and it wasn't that much less just for having one, so it seems the government doesn't cut us loose completely. Makes sense when you look at the amount of bludgers who never work and keep adding to their brood!

I have been given my first lot of hand me down baby things this weekend. It has made it all so incredibly real ...... and exciting. It's amazing the generosity of people, and those with bubbies who appreciate equally both the importance of a helping hand and the annoyance of an over bearing influence, they just do exactly the right amount of 'stuff'.

My happy hormones are well and truley insitu, I'm in love with the world and DH doesn't know what's hit him

    Smile Thanks

Thanks for the reassurance, team members.

I'm still pregnant, but I keep expecting this status to change every time I visit the loo. I am now past the point of the last miscarriage.

So, what's the next milestone after 8 weeks? 12 weeks or 20 weeks? Or test results?

I still have this cold, it's hanging on, my temp. has been around 38 degrees, not as high as I feared. Thanks for suggesting I actually measure it _ commonsense has left me!

My FS said it's time to head to a "normal" OB. Following this phonecall, it will be time to update my knowledge of antenatal tests (my youngest child is almost 13).

Siennaray - how did your appointment go yesterday? I've been thinking of you and had my fingers crossed.
