Is the morph scan the 20 week scan? I'm seeing the obstetrician on Wednesday so I'll get a referral for the 20 week. Gee, more anxiety! At least in our Mother's day they could enjoy these pregnancies without constant testing!

Yep, that's the 20 week scan. My husband says that about testing all the time. I had so much worry early on when the baby wasn't the right size for my dates. Most people would hardly know they were pregnant! But in our mothers' day, they didn't have the technology to get some of us pregnant, so we take the good with the worry I guess!

Hope your appt goes well on Wed.

Chook11 we did the same thing with DD1, after IVF we went public at the Mater and couldn't fault it, I had my own room, the physio that came to visit me after I'd had her said the public and private rooms are exactly the same. I thought it was great. I was in the midwife group practice which I was quite happy with, I got to know all the midwives as a group so when the time came it didn't really matter who I got, altho whenever it was time for something to happen at the 'business end', I always seemed to get the male midwife! (midhusband? :-/ ). He was actually also really nice.

Things are still abit uncertain here. My HCG levels didn't double in two days so I was sent for another scan on Friday and told to expect the worst. Got there all really to be told no heartbeat but it was there, going strong! The sonogapher gave me a later EDD and said the heartbeat was normal for 6wks. That wasn't a tearful appointment at all! I have to have another blood test next Saturday to see how my levels are going and then maybe another scan. This is nerve wracking!! We were already mourning our loss before we got to the scan so it's been a bit of an emotional rollercoaster but fingers crossed our miracle hangs tough.

Mrs Erin how are you doing, that's fantastic news about your beta. Keeping it all crossed for you

I think that sometimes TeamPanda, about our mothers having children. There really is a lot to be said for the saying 'ignorance is bliss'!!

Hi ladies, I'm lurking. My beta did go from 44 to 143 in 2 days so there's still a chance for us but I'm a bit hesitant to throw myself back into the pregnancy threads just yet. I guess after the shaky start I've gone into self preservation mode. I don't want to get my hopes too high.

I do have a question though and hopefully you will know. Does the ivf clinic arrange scans for viability as a part of the cycle or do I need to find an obstetrician for that?

Hi Mrs Erin, my clinic arranged for a viability scan. I was given the date to do it on the day they rang with my first beta which was at about 5 and a half weeks. I had to go back a week later as the baby was measurung small and it was too early for the heartbeat. That was a hard week, as they prepared me for the worst. I know a lot of clinics do the viability scan later so there's more likelihood of hearing the heartbeat. It would be worth a call to check what your clinic advise but I would think you could definitely have a scan very soon.

Lizzie, my specialist sonographer told me the risk of miscarriage is greatly reduced after hearing the heartbeat. I know the next few weeks will be really nerve wracking but hang in there. It sounds like you've got a fighter on your hands!

Mrs ErinR, can I ask who your FS is? I was with Bruce Dunphy Bubtree/Monash for DD1 and they organised the scan for me. Same as Octoberbaby2012, I was too early for the first one to show anything so had to wait a week to go back. You think the tww is a killer!! Waiting waiting waiting, that's all I remember about our IVF journey

Thanks OctoberBaby2010, that's good to know. I'm trying to relax and be positive but it's so hard!

Wow, so many of us have gone through or are going through the same thing... I have another scan tomorrow, I'll be 7+4 then so if there is no heartbeat, its all over for me. Oddly my symptoms have come back a bit these past few days - feeling mixed emotions at the moment, but fully aware it could be bad news for us tomorrow.
Lizzie, glad to hear your little one is beating the odds.
    Hang in there Erin.
    Xx

Good luck Emski, hope everything goes well tomorrow

The hardest thing about being this age and falling pregnant is that you always err on the side of negative. I can't imagine being in my 20's, getting pregnant really quickly then sitting back and letting it all happen, how nice would that be!!!

Just popping in to say will be thinking of you tomorrow Emski.
Mrs Erin my clinic organised the viability scan, I had to speak to them directly to book it but it's all part of Monash Ivf.

    Thinking of you tomorrow Emski!

Professor Dunphy is my FS this time, so scan was organised through him/Monash.
