    Hi Ladies,

Just came back to our thread to thank Kdmeddie and Nat84u for letting me know about Dr Matthias. You are right, he is fantastic and I am very hopeful with his treatment, specially after I read Dr Beer's book, and believe that my miscarriages ( 6 ! ) were related to autoimmune problems.

I also wanted to ask Kdmeddie how you are doing with your pregnancy. Were you ok with the dexamethasone ? Dr M gave me to take it but I read this one crosses the placenta more than prednisone. I know he changes for prednisone around 10 weeks, but I still get a bit concerned...

Did you have to take more intralipid infusions after the 14 weeks one ?

How are you doing with your treatment Nat84u ?

I would love to hear an update about you guys.

I have made my biopsy with Dr M and we will decide what to do from there.

All the best for you !

    That's great news!!

Dr M seems to think I can get pregnant just using clomid and dexmethasone, so I'm taking that at the moment and I'm on CD 10. Not sure if I'll ovulate or not cause clomid hasn't worked for me lately...

But I guess I'll wait and see!

I'm so pleased you have some answers and treatment options

    Hi Nat84u,

Thanks for your answer. I am glad you are also being treated by Dr M. Fingers crossed for a BFP for you soon. What exactly is the CD10 ? It's like Clomid ?

How much of the dexamethasone are you on ? Are you increasing the dose after you have a positive result ? I am also curious as per what symptoms are you getting from Dexamethasone ( and you too Kdmeddie ). I never had dex, but I had prednisolone before and I didn't enjoy my symptoms at all. I was very accelerated, had a terrible imsonia every single night, had herpes on my mouth for the first time in my life etc... Of course I will do what it takes to keep the pregnancy, but just wondering if dexamethasone is that bad...

Please keep us posted about your results ! The best of luck to you !!!

    Hi Mayaus & Nat 84u,

So glad to hear that both of your appointments with Dr M went well.

Well I am now 32 weeks pregnant thanks to Dr M . Nothing to do with Dr M and his treatment but I have spent a very scary month in hospital and 3 months on strict bed rest - was only allowed up to use the bathroom! I have placenta previa and started bleeding at 20 weeks and continued to off and on until 27 weeks. Was a very scary time in hospital they thought they would have to deliver the baby if the bleeding didn't stop or got heavier - IVF and the miscarriages were very difficult but this broke me. But happy to report that the baby is now thriving and as of yesterday I am now allowed to resume somewhat "normal activities" again, as the placenta has moved .

Mayaus, I took dex until 11 weeks and then swapped to pred. I felt great on the dex and really crappy on the pred - had bad side effects too facial hair growth and bad acne, but all worth it in the end. I did not completely stop pred until 24 weeks.
My last intralipid infusion was at 13.5 weeks, I was scheduled to have another one at around 22 weeks but didn't because i was in hospital.
I also had to stop the clexlane injections at 20 weeks because of the bleeding.

Please keep me updated on how you both go

    Karen xx

    Hi Kdmeddie,

It's great to hear from you ! And thanks to you I am now seeing Dr M so you have no idea how glad I am to have found you :-) !!!

I am sorry to hear about your scary month... I can only imagine... I had to do bed rest in my daughter's pregnancy as well, and that was not fun at all. But with a bleeding and specially after everything you went trhough to get pregnant and keep it, omg !!! I am happy to know that's over and you are now 37 weeks, so your baby should be ready to go at any time ! Please keep us updated !

I also wanted to ask you if you kept seeing Dr M as an obstetrician through the pregnancy, or if you went for another Ob... I think I would like to stay with Dr M if I fall pregnant, but the thing is that I live in the North Shore is he is sooooo far from me if I have to see him often... Plus, I would assume he delivers in hospitals in the south area, and that's not my area at all. But I would do it just to feel safer that all is fine, specially knowing that my usual ob doesn't believe in any of the immune therapies... So I was just wonder how Dr M is as an obstetrician.

Can I ask you what dose were you on for dex and for the pred ?

So you only stoped the clexane because of the bleeding ? But I thought clexane is usually only up until 16 weeks anyway, no ?

Wish you all the best and let us know the news !

Wish I was 37 weeks but only 32 weeks! We considered seeing Dr M as our obstetrician as well, I felt so comfortable and confident with him. But we decided it was too far to travel (we live in the lower blue mountains). The closest hospital for us to deliver with him would have been Liverpool private. In the end I am glad we didn’t because of all the dramas we have had, he would not have been able to visit me while i was in hospital at Nepean.

What we did do in the end was continue to consult with Dr M along with our obstetrician. So Dr M has continued to instruct me as per my immune treatment, we have had couple of phone consultations with him but I also asked his opinion regarding my treatment for placenta previa - cost for a phone consult was $150 but nothing back from Medicare. I informed my obstetrician that I was going to continue consulting with Dr M throughout my pregnancy, he was not happy with this arrangement but given my difficulty in conceiving and then staying pregnant he reluctantly agreed. Since finishing all my immune meds I have not needed to consult with Dr M anymore.

I was on 0.5 x 3 times from the start of IVF until egg transfer and then 0.5 x 4 times a day from transfer to 11 weeks when I swapped to 30mg of pred and then very slowly started weaning of the pred until I was on 5mg, which I stayed on for 4 weeks (so finishing pred at 24 weeks)

Yep so only stopped clexane at 20 weeks because of bleeding, Dr M was going to have me stay on it to about 32-34 weeks.

P.S: Another lady who I chatted with about Dr M on this forum is also pregnant first treatment with Dr M as well. Fingers and toes crossed that this is the case for you as well

Thanks for your answer and clear explanation Kdmeddie !!! I am keeping my fingers crossed to you, but I am sure you will be fine and so will your baby ( you are just arround the corner to deliver... )!

Sorry to bother you guys with so many questions but I have another quick one for both Kdmeddie and Nat84u. I understand you both had the uterus biopsy for nk cells right ? Well, I had mine done this past monday, and a couple of hours later I started to experience a very weak bleeding, that since than have just been increasing and now it is more like a period kind of bleeding ( although it is still too early for that to be my period ). Since dr M didn't mentioned anything about expect bleeding when I had the biopsy, this is getting me a little concerned... I have e mailed Dr M in that regards but haven't heard back from him yet, so just thought I should ask you guys since you also had the biopsy. Did you bleed after it as well ? For how long did the bleeding last ? How strong was that ( like a period bleeding ? ) ? Sorry for my questions, but I just got a bit concerned with the possibility of an infection or something like that after the biopsy so I want to make sure this bleeding is normal...

Thanks a lot for you and all your understanding. You have been of such a great help and I hope I can be for you too !

Default Proffessor Illingworth of Sydney Ivf is THE BEST of all!

I did Ivf for 7 yrs & had 8 cycles, I started with Ivf Australia, Then Nxt Generation fertility with Dr Knight & Dr Tang ( Not recommended!, then to sydney Ivf then Back to Ivf Australia, finally found Professor Peter Illingworth helped me, he was very thorough did all the appropriate tests, & was very caring, supportive & accessible via phone, I can say much more about this one very efficient & clever Professor but I'll leave it to u to visit him & let him help u thru ur Ivf Journey, he helped me achieve my dream & i fell pregnant & had a beautiful baby girl at the age of 42.
The support he gives is amazing & he truly knows his stuff more than all the other Ivf doctors in Sydney.
    Truly an AMAZING PROFESSOR!
GOOD LUCK & PLEASE IF U HAVE HAD UNSUCCESSFUL IVF MISCARRIAGES GOT TO HIM, YOU'LL EVENTUALLY GET THERE IF U R IN THE RIGHT CARE.

I have just stumbled across this. kdmeddie when i was reading your posts your quest seems exactly like mine. Im with Dr Lok as well, but i also consulted with Matthias due to my NK cells. In 2 weeks time i will be doing ivig therapy to hopefully help me. I have failed implantation (6 times so far). It is so frustrating. Will also be doing the dex, clex, doxy, vitamins etc. Same as kdmediie Matthias instructed me not to mention anythng to Lok as they dont believe in NK cells. I am so hoping i fall pregnant and if i do will be writing a letter so they can look into things further.

As for Dr Lok yes he is OK, nice bedside manner, and he is open to do other things but does not believe in NK cells. He is also very good with MFI.

    Good luck xx

    Hi Zoe,

Good luck with your treatment with Dr M, he is amazing. Thanks to him I have a beautiful 9 week old baby girl.
I think it is really important to trust and go with your gut instinct when it comes to your fertility and health in general. Although my IVF Dr was telling me “it will happen, it’s only a matter of time” I knew something else was going on in my body to cause so many miscarriages.
And like we do for all other medical issues I needed a specialist to assist me with this particular issue. Dr Lok is a fantastic IVF specialist as is Professor Illingworth who was my IVF Dr with my son, but for those of us who have immune issues as well I think the best we have in Australia is Dr M.

Stay strong Zoe through your treatment, I pray that Dr M can be of help to you as well xx
