Banbha -- it's Irish and pronounced Banva. I've always really loved it. Do you hate it? Love it?
And would you use the traditional or phonetic spelling?
TIA

not a fan sorry. To me, and this is my opinion only, it is one of those names that she will be forever spelling and pronouncing. My maiden name is italian, and not spelt the way it is pronounced and it was a pain in the bum. But in saying that each to their own and I am sure you will get a few who love it![]()

i don't like it, but i wouldn't mess about with the traditional spelling. i have a very common name, and i still have to spell it out to people because of the different that it can be spelled. My married name is very very common, still have to spell that one too. keep to the original irish spelling....everyone else will get over it!

Is it a boys or girls name? I can't tell if it's masculine or feminine just by the sound of it. My initial reaction is that I don't like it. Sounds more like some sort of foreign brand name or product than a child's name. The spelling presents future problems too. Probably would drive them Barney having to explain the spelling. Just my opinion tho.

Don't like it sorry. Agree with the PP who said don't mess with the spelling - my DS' name is spelled traditionally and I'm glad I did that - even though you could mispronounce it, few people do.
I never get why so many people like Irish names - they're usually really masculine-sounding names spelt in a way that means majority of your average Aussies will pronounce it wrong.
Sorry to say it OP, but this one is a particularly unattractive Irish name IMO.
I kinda like it
My GF kid's all have Irsish names, hey it's 2011 - I'm a teacher and unless it's written down I ask every student to spell their name!

It's awful and it would never be pronounced properly.
