Default Help with frequency of feeds

My 14 week old was feeding every two hours during the day but lately I'm not sure if he still needs it. He only has 45 minute naps and doing "feed, play, sleep" he's due for a feed every 2 hours. He comes off the breast frequently during the feed and is easily distracted. Sometimes he just vomits and I feel so bad coz he has reflux and I don't want to cause him pain. Should I be waiting for him to cry and then feeding him? I've tried to make his naps longer but no luck so far. Has this happened to anyone else?

He is only 14wks, he still needs to be fed frequently. I just think of it like this: I eat sometimes every 1-2hrs, breastmilk is low calorie and bubs has a small tummy still, Just keep feeding and treasure the moments while they last.

I would keep feeding when bub wants it, you could try to stretch the feed out for sure, but If he let's you know he wants it then yeah feed him. I did go thru a stage where my dd was catnapping and it isn't good for them( or you) in the long run, you have to change something around. I have a great book here that helped me a lot in these early weeks. I've just got some info out of it for you- hope it helps. Babies 10wks and up until 4-5 months require 4 hours day sleep, of they are not getting this it can cause alot of settling problems later, and you can imagine how you would feel if you were 4 hrs short of sleep a night. 2 day sleeps of around 2 hrs a day, catnapping is caused by baby not being tired enough to sleep (being put down too early) or hunger. After 10 wks bub should be able to manage a 2hr awake / play time at once and after the 2 hrs try to put bub down and after bub wakes -feed and play etc and another sleep after being awake for 2 hrs. And a nap an hr a half later, before bedtime around 7. If still catnapping, try keeping bub up for another 10 min. It can be really hard, I remember making silly noises to keep my dd awake until her sleep time- but it worked she slept instead of napping I've read little vomits and caused by not enough winding during a feed, maybe try pulling bub off middle feed and getting a burp up and again when the feeds finished. I hope this helps you, my dd did the same thing but this book saved us lol. If you would like me to send you the whole routine for your babies age I'm happy to. Good luck

Sure it's called "save our sleep" by Tizzy Hall. I didn't write it on here as a few ppl don't agree with some things she suggests like for eg the self settling where there is crying involved, however it's not controlled crying and she states that you should never let baby cry an "emotional cry" worked wonders for us! We still use her routines with our 13 mnth old and she is put in her cot awake and puts herself to sleep, she's been doing this since she was very little. Like any book just take what you want from it. But I can honestly say we have a very well behaved girl at bedtime and meal times etc thanks to this book! Good luck and congrats on your little bundle

The last two days I've been giving ds a top up before a nap and then resettling when he wakes up after 45 minutes. It's been working so far. I think he's going through a distracted stage; he's just so interested in everything. I've been tring to use a routine from babybliss. We're slowly getting there.
