Default When your baby started creeping around the furniture, how long until they started..

    walking?

DS is 1 in 2 weeks and seems to of come alive in the last month, I noticed him creeping around the coffee table a few days ago and just now noticed that he's improved rapidly, he's such a tricky little bugger.

Anyway, was just wondering how long did your baby take their first steps on their own without needing the support of an object?

I'm moving in two weeks, the main day being grandpa's birthday celebration so unfortunately grandma is MIA and i'm now relying on the mother in law.. I also run a home business, don't drive and DF works full time, just to make it that much harder on myself

I'm just hoping he doesn't catch on too soon (or shall I say let go?) otherwise it'll make things 2x as difficult, lol

my son furniture surfed from six months but did not take first steps til fourteen and a half months so it can be a long time between the two.

My DD started cruising at 7 months, she turned 1 yesterday and is no closer to walking. A friends baby also cruised from 7 months and was walking unaided at 9.5 months

My first two were cruising the furniture at about 10 months and walking at 11.5 months. DD2 was cruising it at 11 months. She is now 16 months and nowhere near walking

    Ow what a cutie...

My little guy started standing up on furniture at 5 months and crawling & cruising soon after, but couldn't sit until about 7-8 months!

He's now 10 months and only today stood on his own for the first time! <tear> So happy for him.

But I suspect he's still a while off walking - he's still very small and doesn't feel confident unless there's something nearby to hold or grab on to. So don't worry he'll prob cruise for a while yet. they need to learn how to bend their knees to get down properly first too - this is trickier than it sounds

DS learned to bend before cruise. This is why I said he's tricky lol. My friends 9 month old cruised and walked days later, each to their own I say!

My DS has been cruising since right on 8 months. He is 11 months today and is yet to take those elusive first steps, however has just in the last couple of days stood on his own for a couple of seconds.

How gorgeous is it watching them find there feet!

DD was cruising around 8 months, but we actively discouraged her from walking, until about 11 months when she just took off!
