Default Advice after 15mth old had a fall

My 15mth old has just started walking he trip and fell hitting the side of his head/face (between ear and cheek bone) I have never heard a cry like that terrifying there is a welt and big bruise in the area ... I immediately put a really cold washer on the area and just held him until he got down off my lap he just lay in front of the tv for 20mins not really doing much just whinging he is now up again and moving around looking at toys and books bur I can't yelp but stress this is the first big injury ... Should I be concerned?? Anything to watch for??

Thanks for listening to the rants of a first time mum xx

You poor DS... My DD hasn't stopped tripping over and she is now 5yrs lol. The main things to look out for a head injury is drowsiness, vomiting soon after the incident, change in behavior such as lethargy, and large amounts of swelling.

It sounds like your DS will be fine as he is back getting into his toys etc, although he may complain of a sore head for a little while.

You did a great rescue job! 

Agree with mummypants. My DD can be a real klutz but as long as he's not displaying any of the mentioned symptoms he'll be fine. Maybe give him a dose of Infant Panadol before he goes to bed though (if you use it).
