Not true, it works through a wifi network in your home, but you can also use 3G to check on baby if you're out and you have a babysitter or something, but it doesn't require Internet, just a wifi network within your home.

Yeah, looked into it and although not over the internet, still uses the wifi which means the internet router has to be switched on and we're not too keen on having something in bubs room that is using that. Thanks for the info!! Will go back and look at the others, hmmm, so many choices!!

For those with the oricom 700 monitor who hate the beep when turning the parent monitor on :

Make it some PJs out of black out material which covers the screen and then u can leave it on all night next to ur bed and just lift the "PJs " when u need to check on bubba visually. Works brilliantly fir us. Just ensure they don't cover too much else of the monitor as I guess it could create a fire hazard.
