First draft arrived!

YAY!!

My DP and I bought some land last year and plan to build on it next year. We met with a draftsman over the weekend and he's already come back with a first draft!

I'm so excited. Most excited about the open fire place - oh I can't WAIT!

Now to get it to final stages and then find a builder!

Congrats! I'd love to build my own home. What other features is it going to have?

Thanks! It's a first for me (building) and most of the time I'm terrified at the thought but today I am just excited.

Other features ... well it will be quite basic because we have a pretty tight budget but we are building on stumps which is probably considered a feature these days. The block is sloped so we're using that so we have under-house storage and central heating in the floor which I think is SO much better than in the ceiling. Also, because it's on stumps we can have the nice authentic floorboards with that nice authentic floorboard sound.

Ummm .. Oh, we bought some old windows that we'll use. One set are casement windows from an old (about 110 years) house in Queensland and the other is an old double sash window from an old house that was being demolished locally - we only paid $50!
