Default Bad after sale service at baby shop

Instead of purchasing an item from our usual baby store & asking them to do a price match I thought i would buy it direct from somewhere who had it advertised cheaper...at the time I thought how much different could the service honestly be but I guess when they say you get what you pay for they refer to service not just product. Now, less then 3wks later, the item has stopped working & all the store would say is there's nothing they can do & I would have to send the item direct to the manufacturer . I have since spoken to the Office of Fair Trading who have advised me this is not the case. Anyway after looking on such websites as productreview.com.au & seeing how many complaints are out there for this particular shop (has 1 of the lowest star ratings of all the childrens stores) you would think they would know the laws. For anyone interested it is worth having a look at the "services" section which then gives you an option to look up shops by name. I know most reviews on the website would be bad ones but it has to say something about a business which has so many them. Anyway i figure the best thing I can do now is take any prices from their website to another store who give better service & price match.

You would think companies would learn that good customer service is the key to sales. For every review out there I dread to think about the $$$ they loose.
Were you able to sort something out with the store in the end? I'm sure most manufacturers would direct you back to the point of purchae anyway!

After receiving a rude email reply from the owner? of the store I have decided to purchase the same item elsewhere & have the Office of Fair Trading follow the complaint up for a full refund. Figure the best way to deal with such a rude man is not to deal with him at all.... Besides it looks as though he might spend a lot of his time posting replies to all the reviews on that website. Must be exhausting

Yep I would definitely be speaking with Department of Fair Trading and letting them mediate, good on you for following it up, every complaint will hopefully mean some improvement on customer service or the store be shut down altogether.
