    Default 1st night away.........maybe!

So looks like I have been invited out on Saturday to spend the night in a hotel in the city. Some bubbly some food and out to dance the night away! I have not been out since before I was pregnant ( bub is now 22 months!) and also still breast feeding and never spent the night away from bub.
He will be with his daddy and I will be with some of my lovely girl friends. Would anyone else be nervous about doing this? I really want to go but like I say still breast feeding and bub won't sleep all night with out a feed so slightly worried for my husband!

Has your DH put him to bed before (without boobie)? I never thought that my DD would settle without it (and she doesn't for me) but DH has worked out his own techniques and if i am not here she works with dad's ways.

I haven't left her for a full night yet though, so i understand your concerns. I hope you can work it out so you can enjoy yourself!

    Awww

I remember that feeling. DD was younger than your bubs was when I had my first night away and it is very scary (I think she was about 10/11months?) anyway we're still BFing but I get nothing when I pump so she had formula for the night and it was fine. It didnt affect my supply, she's now 16 months and we're still BFing.

If you can get him to take EBM or formula then that should be fine for one night.

Also, perhaps get your DH to have a practise run of putting him to bed without the boobie and also getting up to him throughout the night with EBM (if you can) just so both he and bubs can see how they go and also so that during and after, you're there for him to ask questions if he needs to.

I was always petrified of how DF would go because I feed to sleep and was worried DD wouldnt sleep without my boob but when Im not there and DF is in charge, she settles for him anyway and they have their own routine.

Go and enjoy yourself and have a blast!!! Just pump and dump your first lot of milk in the morning before giving him his first feed lol....nothing like a drunk baby first thing in the morning when mummy has a headache hehehe

As he is 22 months he has cows milk when I am not there. I expressed for 7 months when I returned to work so as soon as he was old enough I put him to cows milk as I was over expressing!
DH hasn't really dealt with him over night as he wont settle for anyone but me when I am there so it's fear of the unknown I suppose! DH has once put him to bed with out me there and worked fine and also my best friend has babysat a few evenings so known he will go down but it's just the whole not knowing how he will go when he wakes overnight (which I can guarantee he will, at least twice!)
If I do go out sure I will be worrying all night but need to do it at some point! Also how do you deal with the tiredness you get after a night out when you have a toddler, not looking forward to that!!

Considering it will be your DH looking after bub no way would I hesitate!

DH is an amazing dad and just as capable as me! DD will be spending the night with my mum soon, now that's scary!! Lol

Go for it! Sounds like bubs will go to sleep ok and if bubs wakes up, your dh will handle it. Go & have a good night out. As for being tired the next day just nap while your bub does (?in the afternoon) and have a quiet day or two at home.
