    Default slow rising hcg levels

    Hi All,
    I'm just looking for some advice from people who have experienced slow rising hcg levels and the outcome for their pregnancy. I know that hcg levels should double every 48-72 hours but I'm trying to hang on to some hope although I would like to hear positive and negative outcomes.
    I am meant to be 6 weeks pregnant today (25.05). The first day of my LMP was 13th April. I presented at the doctor last Tuesday (17.05) with slight spotting and period like cramps. The spotting was literally about 2 spots of brown blood and then ceased. I have however had cramps that have continued on and off since. My hcg level on Tuesday 17/5 was 2700, then on Friday 20/5 was 3900, then Monday 23/5 was 4900. I am concerned that my hcg levels aren't doubling and am wondering what this could mean? My doctor has scheduled an u/s for this Friday coming (27/5) however I am stressing alot about this and am wondering if it is possible for everything to still be ok or not? My doctor is not being very forthcoming with information and doesn't seem overly concerned however I am not sure if this is just to put my mind at ease. I did have a miscarriage 4 months ago at 6 weeks and I am very concerned that it has happened again. Also I'm wondering if the fact that the bleeding stopped so quickly is a good sign?
    I really appreciate any advice or stories you can share on this.

    No advice from me but sending you

    I personally never looked at my hgc levels but im sure everyones levels differ and fluctuate, as long as they're going up then thats the main thing.

    Best thing try to relax and keep calm. Stressing out is not going to do you any good.

    this is my second pregnancy. when i was about 6 weeks i had a little bright red bleeding. id already had my pregnancy confirmed with a blood test at the doctor. i went to the hospital and had another blood test. my hcg level had actually decreased and i was told id miscarried. had an u/s 3 days later to confirm it, and as it turns out bub was fine. i did however have gluggy brown discharge for abt 2 months after that. it has completely gone now tho (nearly 28wks). goodluck, things arent always as bad as they seem. it isnt over til it's over.

    My levels did whatever the heck they wanted to. Usually not even close to doubling, one was only about 30% above the previous one.

    I'm now 27 weeks along.

    The time my levels didn't double properly ended in a missed miscarriage, sorry to say! I really hope your outcome is different. The ultrasounds should give you some clarity as to what to expect though.

    and Chase I'm really sorry to hear about your experience, I guess sometimes God just has other plans unfortunately for all of us excited expectant mum's!

    I guess this just supports what my doctor tells me that it really could go either way. I do have a slightly bad gut feeling about it but I'm hoping this is just because of my previous miscarriage and that everything will be fine at u/s on Friday. Gosh I know its only 2 days away but it feels like the longest wait of my life!!

    Hi Ladies,

    I just wanted to log on and let you all know I had the u/s this morning and baby was in the right place, measuring 6 weeks exactly (2 days off what I thought) and with a little heart beating beautifully at 156bpm which the sonographer was very happy with

    She said that everything looks perfect and whilst she can't predict the future anything I had been experiencing seemed to be all normal and fine !

    I know its not the safe period yet but I can't tell you how relieved I feel at the moment and I definitely have a renewed sense of hope about this pregnancy !

    thanks Chase I hope you don't mind me asking but when you had your missed miscarriage had you ever seen the heartbeat on u/s? Its fine if you don't want to answer that question I'm just trying to decide whether I should still be cautious about the HCG levels?
