I just don't have the finances to do IVF and would only have enough for one round of IUI so feeling very sad right now.
So sorry I havent got back to you yet. You definitely need to screen potential donors but I found the process very safe and actually quite special. The donor I chose is an absolute sweetheart!! Too bad he's my donor not my bf lol. I will send you an in depth email tomorrow I promise. Please don't be disheartened. The site I used was www.co-parents.com, as the name suggests it does offer co parenting/share parenting options but quite a lot of sperm donors as well with different views on contacts.

I will email you tomorrow, in the meantime check out the website. You will be quite surprised :-)

I lay awake most the night despairing over this! Without money it just seems so hopeless and heartbreaking.
I went to a GP yesterday but she said that I don't need to do any tests to see if my eggs ok cos if I have a regular period and was only pregnant late last year then I should be ok. But I NEED to know what my chances are.

Stormgirl - I just read your post...... I was worried about money too before I did my IVF cycle. I didnt really have any savings, but really wanted to give it a go, I thought about it alot and had sleepless nights too, in the end I decided to pay with a credit card.
Maybe not the best way to pay, but it worked for me and its going to take me a while to pay it off, but its completely worth it . Of course its not an option for everyone, but it might be worth thinking about....

SugarBerry - I thought about that but I only have a $2000 limited which would prob only get me one attempt at IUI. I haven't heard of anyone yet having instant success with that???

From what I have read IUI doesn't appear to be that successful but it is the cheaper alternative ... be even cheaper if I could finy my own sperm as it's $800 per vile! I no idea what I am going to do as my finances would probably only cover one IVF attempt (that is with a loan) and if it failed I would be so heartbroken with the reminder of what I have missed out on every week until the loan was paid off. Just seems so cruel.
I am so coming back a male in my next life!

Hi storm girl, I know how you feel, I'm trying maxamize my chances as I don't want to get a bfn , but u never know ivf can work first go, and I would raver give it a go than wonder what could of been,

I have pcos, wich gives higher rate of complications
But I'm going give it my all, remedial massage, aromatherapy , acupunture , Chinese herbs, cutting out processed foods, eating organic food , exercise , and all the testing ,but it will be worth it either way, I even joins health insurance so after 12 months it's cheaper or 2 months for if it's not pre existing ,
You can get alot of testing done before you try to see if your body is baby ready , good luck lots baby dust for you

I have an appt tomorrow with a specialist at City Fertility but he is younger and I haven't heard too much about him. There is another specialist, Dr Weissenberger, who is older and has a good profile with more experience. I can get into him in a few weeks but he is a bit more costly. I am confused as to which one I should go too. I was thinking that since I am due for my oeriod next week then maybe tomorrow be better if they wish to do blood tests, get the results sooner. But I worry that since he hasn't the experience of the other specialist that maybe I wait to see him! I don't want to waste money but I don't want to waste time either. QFG have no sperm donor available at the moment for IUI so I have to go with City Fertility.
