Default i want my uncle tobys flavoured instant oats sachets back! wah

So as it turns out giving up work has its price and one is giving up my delicious breakfast in exchange for black and gold oats! So I'm sitting here eating the worst ever porridge someone tell me how to make this taste good please. And don't judge me for using convenience foods like I know you want to

Oh that's easy! We buy always buy plain oats and add stuff to it. My favourites are:

    • Brown sugar and strawberries
    • A little bit of maple syrup
    • Honey and walnuts
    Yummo

    DH, DS and me!

I make plain porridge taste better by adding the following to one serve:

    1 tsp raw sugar
    1 tsp honey
1 heaped dessert spoon skim milk powder (you could add a dash of milk if you don't have that
    1 tbsp wheatgerm
    1 tbsp bran
sultanas (or tinned apple is also nice)

    ....yummy!

I would gladly give up vegetables! They are too expensive anyway! Lol. I'm not "allowed them any more cos we have to cut so many bloody costs and one of them is expensive cereals! No more nutri grain for dp he is on weetbix. Healthier anyway I suppose. When you cook yours do you always cook them on the stove? Or do you still microwave? And how much milk do you use compared to water? Do you think vanilla essense would make it yummy?

I cook mine on the stove, I've never been able to get the consistency right in microwaves (plus I don't currently have one!).

I'm a mircowave (2 lots of water to each lots of oats, then add milk and brown sugar afterwards) kind of girl. I also throw in a handful of shredded coconut Before they are cooked), but the other suggestions of apples and berries have me intrigued as well
