i'm off to my first playgroup today
I didn't get along great with my mother's group, then we moved and i thought all the playgroups were full, then the lovely officer with the council found me one and we are on our way! I'm so nervous i feel like we're going on a first date! DS better be good, i don't want to be the shouting mum on our first day

I've seen a few people talk about playgroups being 'full'. I don't get this. The brilliant one I go to every so often is just a 'turn up when you want' kind of place.

Are these council playgroups you're referring to?

If a Playgroup is run in a leased building and is covered under insurance for the occupants there are limits to the number of children you can have, of course as well as the actual physical size of the place to accommodate the children and parents.
The Playgroup I run is limited to 22 members/children, is covered by Playgroup SA insurance and located in a hired room at a council community centre.
Just thought I'd explain that they can easily become full, and there is a very broad range of group types that call themselves 'playgroups', some casual and some more formal that have fees, craft activities etc.

Lola yep, as nicoleE said, a council run one. They are all super busy around here and i work 3 days a week which made it a bit trickier.
