We've been so lucky with our neighbours, they actually babysit for us!

I try and keep the kids inside until at least 8.30am on weekends or holidays, because I remember once what it was like to not have kids and to relish a sleep-in. But after that they are let loose and I'm sure you can hear them from a few suburbs away. They play Dreamworld on the swing (which means they verbally simulate the screaming from going on a scary ride at Dreamworld) and the sound from that even goes through me! If they get exceedingly loud I tell them to keep it down. But surprisingly most of our neighbours (who are retired) say that they love hearing our kids playing outside, that too many kids play inside with computer games. Maybe you should move to our suburb!

OJ & Me, my advice (we did this) would be to introduce yourself to your neighbours when you move in and tell them to let you know if the kids are being too noisy. Its always nice to get it out into the open. Who knows, you may have some neighbour who works night shifts and relishes quiet for a few hours a day and would be grateful if you could keep the noise down. I figure if you respect your neighbours they (should) respect you.
