LOVE it! We almost always had to take lunch and rarely got tuckshop.. so that would have been the best present ever!

DS still goes to school but takes in a cake for his friends, if he had the choice I think he would still go to school he loves taking in the cake!

As kids we never got the day off nor did we get to take a cake in.

Actually I just remembered (sorry placenta brain lol) that my DS was born on anzac day so he wouldn't have the class birthday thing either lol. But like a previous poster I resented not being able to celebrate my birthday at school also (my birthday falls in the xmas hols too)

DS would be devastated if I kept him home on his birthday! We always bake cupcakes to bring to class to share on the day, and he just loves it. It's nice to have a day at school to feel a bit special. And we always have a celebration at night time anyway with the family.

I always went to school on my birthday and my kids will too. They go to daycare on their birthdays and take a cake to share with their friends, usually I am at home cooking a special dinner and making another cake.

I'll go to work on mine & DH's bdays, but I always take the night off for the kids birthday so I am home for dinner with them.

Besides, once they're in school I'll probably be working during school hours anyway.
Oh yeah that might change my plans a little bit lol.

I wouldn't MAKE her stay home and be bored at home. We'd always do something special

I'll still send mine to school on her birthday, because not all friends can attend parties. We'll still go out for a special meal, or have something at home or maybe bowling something like that, but there's nothing like getting that Happy Birthday sticker and having your classmates sing Happy Birthday! That's exciting for kids!

TBH I think you may make her miss out on stuff if you keep her at home, that's just my honest opinion.
