    Default Flu shot

Not sure if someone else already did a thread on this, but I am wondering if you are getting a flu shot for your kid(s)?

I got mine a few days ago and was offered to get one for DS too. I didn't know they could give a 16 month old a flushot.
I thought about it and I decided to get him one. He goes to daycare 2 days a week as well as playgroups. He had the flu last year when he was just 6 months old. It was a horrible 2 weeks and not something I'd like to repeat any time soon.
They give kids under 4 only half a dose. Than 1 month later the child gets another shot. There needs to be a minimum of 1 month between shots.

No, no flu shots here.. we get "colds" all the time, but never the flu and I'm satisfied with the cons v pros of not having that particular shot.

Nope we won't be getting it here, never have and prob never will. I've worked in Childcare for 9 years and dd has attended Childcare for over 3 years. As long as you are healthy, flus/colds come and go. There will always be different types so flu shot seems pointless to me.

Nope, for us the cons outweigh the pros. I have never had a flu shot either. I do believe that occasionally getting sick (although it sure isn't fun) is good for the immune system.

Hell no! And that goes for me also. They shouldn't be offering it to children under two years of age anyway.

DH and I got it and we both got sick soon after.

DH is very healthy and has had no sick days from his job (been there almost 5 years) until the flu he got after the shot had 6 days off all up.

Won't be getting it this year nor will DS

Hell no! What was that case recently where a little girl was given a flu shot and subsequently became irreversibly sick? A thread was started here about it, pretty scary. The little girl was under 18 months old I think.

i am seriously thinking of getting it done for both myself and coop. he goes to daycare 2 days per week and we go out heaps too around other children so if i can lower the chance in any way, i am tempted.

i have a few more weeks to think about it as we are going away in 2wks and i dont want to be sick after we get it if that makes sense esp as we will be around a little bubba.
i cross all bridges with joy and ease.
the "old" unfolds into wonderful new experiences.

Both my DH and I are booked in to get it next week along with our oldest daughter - she is considered "at risk" due her poor respiratory health. We have had times when both DH and I have been sick at the same time with gastro or a cold just for 24 hours and caring for our oldest DD (as well as the other 2) was almost impossible. If we both came down with the flu caring for her and the other 2 would be a nightmare.

Both DH and I are going to get the whooping cough booster as well, for the same reasons as above but also because we have a couple of newborns due in our extended family in the next 6 weeks and I come into contact with tiny babies through my work.

The flu is awful - I suffered for about 2 weeks a few years ago and it took me a good 6 weeks until I really stopped feeling tired all the time.
