    Default Help I need ideas!

DS has decided he hates baby food! He will however SCREAM at us for spaghetti, biscuits, bread etc...he eats it too! He is not yet 6 months old but will happily eat 2 pieces of toast and if you don't share he will try and grab it from you ad shrieks until you give in.

So what else can I give him? He cant survive on milk arrowroots and toast lol! I give him carrot sticks but thats moreso for teething, he cant exactly eat it being toothless.

Oh and yes he has all his bottles too but he wants food!

I wouldn't give him too many milk arrowroots but toast, on the other hand, is pretty versatile. Babies LOVE carbs. You can put cheese spread on it, or avacado, peanut butter, even banana. You can even get baby vegemite now. It has less salt.
The carrots are good too. Steam them and he'll be able to mush them up with his gums. Any steamed veges are good as long as they are big enough to hold and munch -baby carrots, baby corn, capsicum, brocolli or brocolini. Meat. Sausages or chops - make sure you bite the tiny bone off the top and cut most of the meat off - just leave about 1cm along the bone and bub can hold the bone and munch the meat off. Big chunks of chicken lamb or beef. I cut pieces the size of a large potato wedge.
Hard boiled eggs. Bread rolls. Rice cakes. Corn cakes. Soft fruit like strawberries and peaches. Hard fruits Like apple can be put in a net bag, as can chokey fruits like grapes.

By the way, is he nearly 6 months? I'm sure you know "they" recommend food from 6 months. I know lots of people start early. We started ours at 4&1/2 and 5&1/2 months. Sounds like yours is indicating he is keen

    Soooo many things....

Baked, cooled vegies (potato, pumpkin, carrot, capsicum)
Sticks of steamed vegies (carrot, zuchinni, brocolli, couliflour)
Avocado or humous spread on wholemeal toast soldiers or rice cakes
Soft roast meats in chunks big enough to suck/chew on

Just get creative with what you are already doing. I have never prepared totally seperate meals for my girls. I just modify whatever the family is having.

eg, if we are having spag bol, I might pull out some mince and grated veg before I add the salty stock and tomato paste, and then serve that to bub with macaroni instead of spaghetti.

    Have fun!

Bubs don't need teeth to be able to manage 'most' foods (obviously the very hard and chewy stuff won't work). Their gums are surprisingly powerful.
