I have diagnosed PCOS since 17 (now 35) was always told having children would be difficult, never actually prepares you for the day when you're actually trying.

My cycle is all over the place - sometimes each month, sometimes every 2 months - sometimes 1 a year - can never tell. When starting with IVF Australia I was put on provera to bring on the cycle and then started on 50mg of clomid. My body didn't react to that dose and I was told that they can increase the dosage or go straight to IUI - which we have done.

We start out first course of IUI today (literally) - so fingers crossed we will come to know in the not too near future if it has worked.

Hi all. I’m trying to have a baby. But have PCOS. My estrogen levels arequite normal, but my testosterone levels are higher then the average woman. Iget my period every 28 days without fail & have for years, due to normalestrogen, but due to testosterone I have a high sex drive & PCOS. I ampretty sure I ovulate, I don’t need an ovulation kit, my body tells me. But myendocrinologist (without tests) as I am not falling pregnant, thinks that maybeI get ovulation symptoms but don’t release eggs, so to help me along he put on1,000mg of Metformin & 50mg of Clomid & wanted to start taking it day5-9 of my cycle. Now I was a bit confused as I said before, my periods comeevery 28 days like clockwork, but 4 days went by & they didn’t come, so I’mthinking this is a magic pill & I’m pregnant. But I got my period today& one of the worst ones I’ve had, all the symptoms are worse, as I foundout today Clomid gives you more estrogen, hence the more sore breasts &cramps, etc. Now I’m mad as my cycle is messed up. Nobody told me Clomid messesup your cycle. How am I naturally going to tell when I’m ovulating (If I do) ifI don’t know when my periods are due? So my question is there anyone in myboat, on Metformin, taking Clomid & did it work for you? I was told if thefirst course doesn’t work take 100mg. My thing is my partner goes away forwork. Now where I’m confused is one pharmacist reckons is adamant only day 5-9will work, but her theory to me made no sense as she said it depends on if youget you period 21 days them you take it 3-7, days, 28 days you take it 5-9, etc,but most women I know with PCOS are lucky to get their period twice a year. Sohow does a Dr or an endo know when they possibly ovulate & when best totake Clomid? Others have said only 3-7 works, but I’ve been told day 2-6 worksbest, so I am very confused. I am going to try day 2-6, if it doesn’t work I’lltry day 3-7. But if none work I will stop, I’ve been told it can be dangerousto take for a while, & as the hot flushes & late painful periods arenot for me. Any advice? What worked for you

My gp prescribes Metformin, it's weird that your gp doesn't. I know that when the pharmacist is out of Metformin he gives me diaformin which is the same

Hi guys, I'm in Vic and was just wondering if my GP can prescribe Clomid? Or will I need to go to a specialist?
