I've found it variable, but mostly OK if all you want is a trim. I do have basically a long bob though so there's not a lot of skill required. Though I ask for a bit of grading aorund my face and gentle layering of the end so that it sits well....I've had a few interesting interprtations of this from bugga all shaping to lots of layering. I do frind it frustrating that even if you prefer a particular hairdresser at a salon they get crabby and say you need to take the next one available...even if you offer to let the person ahead of you got next and wait.

I just noticed your in Melbourne, if your in the western suburbs I can give you the number of mine? She charges $50 flat rate for cuts and colour (so 100 for both which I think is pretty cheap) and she's excellent.

you have to shop around. i have found a brilliant, cheap place that do my #2 and leave the ratty without any raised eyebrows, no appt nec unless they're super busy and they have very reasonable prices.
they exist.. you just have to find one

I got my best haircut ever at Justcuts. However there are so many staff members there that it's pretty impossible to get the same person, so I've never managed to have that great haircut again. But overall they're ok.

Where abouts in Melbourne are u? I've been going to my hairdresser for like 6-7 years now and she recently moved closer to where I live she's Vietnamese and awesome. She only charges me like $20-25 for a wash, cut, blow wave and straighten if I want. I don't think she charged too much more than that for normal customers though.

I'm in south east Melbourne if u want her details.

I started going to a Salon Express about three years ago and will never go anywhere else. I have very thick, fine, curly hair and have never had better cuts anywhere else. Love them. The ONE time I had a bad cut I wrote to them and they cut it for free every time after that until I was happy. Awesome.

I go to Salon Express as well and they are fantastic! However, the first time I had my hair cut there I stressed what I needed and was insistent that the manager or a senior hairdresser cut my hair. I have a pixie cut, so I needed someone who could do a razor cut. One of the managers cut my hair and while she was not super experienced with the razor, she did a great job! I still go to her regularly 2+ years down the track, she's so good at it now she recently won an award for her pixie cut!

Just ask to be seen by an experienced hairdresser (manager, 2iC, etc) the first time you go, if you are worried and tell them EXACTLY what you want. And there really is (IMO) only a couple of weeks between a bad cut and one you can live with

Lol I've actually got a scoopon to get my Jair done lol I haven't used it yet... Lol as stupid as it sounds I'm hesitant to actually use it cos I'd feel as though I'm cheating on my hair dresser lol, plus if they stuffed it up I'd have to get het to fix it!
