silly question but when is the best time to do the deed before ovulation or the day you are set to ovulate??

I've been told before for a girl and during for a boy. I think it is an old wives tale though. My fertility specialist says the second you start ovulating with a two day break before hand. Maybe that's why I have two boys... ...?

the old wives tale as mentioned above worked for me.

ds1 was a suprise baby
ds2 & dd were both planned and actively ttc'd for. i charted, did temps, checked cm etc.
ds2 i DTD during ovulation, (so on the day i ovulated, and the day after)
dd i DTD the 2 days before i ovulated, then not at all on the day of ovulation or the day after.

I'd say both DH and I went all out and DTD each day for four days before ovulation, the day of ovulation, had a break (we were tired!!) and then two days after ovulation. It worked

However I'm guessing my ovulation day from the dates of AF and cramps/pain that I was getting at the time, so I'm not 100% exactly when I did ovulate.
