Just on the look-out for other SAHMs in my area. Would like to get together and chat about what we could do together for income. I'm an ironing lady and occasionally resell what I buy at second hand shops at the markets (Mt Gravatt, Rocklea and Chandler markets usually and make $200 - 400 each time).
I'm not looking to buy into a business or put forward a lot of money no matter how good an idea sounds. Instead, I'd really like to keep going as I am with the markets though would like another lady who is doing this or would like to do this with me, and we couldt get stalls next to each other. Someone else with me would be great for inspiration which we all need when we have children to get up, get out there and do it! Perhaps on a fortnightly basis/monthly. You could start with anything you can scrounge from around your house and from friends and family to get started (or perhaps you can sell what you make if you're crafty! I myself would like to make children's clothing to sell one day, I'm also not bad with leadlighting). I'm open to many ideas on the craft side of things. For starters though I'm going to continue reselling clothing I find at second hand shops and so forth for now as it is a good income - good enough to consider opening a second hand clothing shop.
It's just an idea and I'm in no way looking for any outlay of money or assets on your part. I'd just like another lady or two to form a like-minded group to see what we can do. If we could be successful together perhaps open a bricks n mortar store down the track in a partnership (after a long trial together at the markets!)? Who knows, but it can't hurt to get together for a chat about it.
I have a toddler and have raised my other child since 2005. I don't want another few years of doing not much, my savings have dwindled away, I get cabin fever and I'm not contributing to my retirement fund. No one wants to hire a mum, atleast in my experience. I have no way to put money away and I live on the limit - all these things I would like to remedy and hopefully down the track I along with another lady or two can come out of this with our own stable business. I have no delusions of grandeur nor am I looking to get rich quick.
Thanks for reading my 'waffling on'. I hope there is a lady out there like me in my area and I can't wait to meet you!
