I'm also amazed that different Childrens Hopsitals use different treatments too! I guess too, it would depend on the severity and whats wrong etc etc

I totally agree, the thought of the Pavlik petrified me more than what DD2 had gone through. It looks yuck!!!

It's great to hear that your DD2 is fine. I have one more check for each of mine before we are totally given the all clear. Though not expecting not to hear anything but!

Thank you so much for your kind and thoughtful words - it's so hard seeing her upset like this, I just want her to be happy. Unfortunately my husband doesn't really understand why I am upset so it's nice being able to talk about it to other people who have made it through. I know my little girl will be fine xx

hi nikki not sure how to word this as I am sure your specialist is fine

but just because like I said 2 DD's same condition etc maybe it would be worth asking about the DBB (Dennis Brown Bar) if you could change to one if the outcome/treatment would be the same

the DBB is just so much more easier to bath, feed dress etc and more comfortable as it does not cover all of their tiny bodies

anyhow not trying to tell you what to do etc just wishing you the best, in the end I have 2 girls with no problems at all either way both harness options work

    Hi Mrs Molly Coddle

My beautiful little Darcy is doing so much better now! She still misses bath time and nudie stretches, but she is coping really well. I'm so proud of her!

We are going to see a specialist next Tuesday (soonest appointment we could get) which I am looking forward to. The hospital has been great, but we were just one of so many patients and it was difficult getting detailed information. I'm also keen to get the brace checked and make sure it fits correctly - it was fitted so quickly and we were told we didn't need to get it checked for 6 weeks.

Darcy grew 10cm in her first 6 weeks of life so I found this odd!

The hardest thing now is people are scared to give her cuddles

Thank you all for your advice and support - it really made such a huge difference! xx

    Hi,
I'm so glad to finally find people that understand what I'm going through.
My daughter who is 8 weeks old was put into a pavlik harness just under a week ago. She seems to be adjusting to it but she isnt as happy and bubbly as she was before. And when I pick her up if she starts to cry i wonder if I've hurt her, infact everytime she cries I wonder if she is in pain!! I hate seeing her like this. And I hate the fact that my mother in law says that not every one can have perfect babies I still find her to be perfect, she's even better than perfect because I know that she is going to come out of this like nothing ever happened!
We have another ultrasound next week to see if the harness is doing anything because both of her hips are bad, the sockets are shallow so the femur head just keeps sliding in and out.
I was wondering though if she is allowed to lay in a bouncer (the seats not the jumper things) she isn't a baby that just likes to lay on her back.
Thanks, I'm so glad I found this thread!!

I completely understand! Darcy was always such a happy baby who never cried. For the first week she was different - she cried, whinged, stopped sleeping and just wanted me to hold her. It was devestating - I cried a lot! It was so sad knowing she wasn't happy

We will have had the harness for 2 weeks on Thursday and she is getting back to normal. Hang in there - you and your daughter will both be fine.

Good luck with the ultra sound next week! xx

My DD1 was wearing Pavlik Harness and it was hard...she had the saddest eyes ever...and used to be so happy before the harness...but it is all in the past now, she is fine now however my DD2 now has the same problem ...not as bad so we are still hopeful but her doctor asked us for another ultrasound and if her hips are not perfect she would have to wear the harness as well...I am so scared...I just do not want to go through it again and I do not want her to go through it...
Wishing all your little ones a very fast recovery!

Default It is hard but it does get better :)

Hi all, it has been quite a while since I looked on this page or written anything and the time has just flown by(all this started at about 4 and a half months of age and she is now just over 10 months), our little one is still in her "Rhino Cruiser" but now only for nap time and night sleeps but it hasn't stopped her at all,she first started rolling in it and now she is crawling, and sitting up and even doing what we call the "Downwood dog"yoga pose or pyramid all this in and out of the harness, when I look back at my earlier posts it is amazing just how far we have come, our next appointment is in late march and hopefully she will be harness free . To the older members I hope you and your littleones are still doing wonderful and to the new members this is a great group for support and advice, I wish you all the very best and especially your precious babies and hang in there and stay strong, it does get better xx
