Waiting.......sorry to hear about your dad & his partner splitting. I hope also everything works out with babysitting for A whilst your on placement.
    And get well DH also.

Winzy......I agree 100% with Lulusmum re portacots. Target has them on sale all the time & there simple, safe & affordable. I used a target one for E & it was fantastic. TBH they haven't changed much since she was little but I did end up selling it at a garage sale & (might) get one later, see how we go. Bubs will be at mums when I'm working & she's all set with a cot for when the grandkiddies are over. We dont go away often but if we did I'd opt for the Target one still as they are pretty light & easy to use etc.
As for nappy bags I splurged a bit and got a oi oi satchel bag, but only because oz sale had them on special & I paid $79 when RRP is $159 + which I couldn't justify in spending. Unless you really want a fancy one I'd checkout the ones at target other than the baby stores & you'll probably find one that looks nice but is also much more practical. Same as Lulusmum, from when E was about 1 we used a backpack. From memory probably one we got from the royal show eg tweety etc. Also back to the nappy bag I've got it looks nice & all but after packing it for hospital the other day I did think to myself it could do with being a bit bigger etc. The ones at target seem to be better sized IMO. Also, some of the fancy brand nappy bags look too much like a "handbag" then a "nappybag" which is why I went for the "satchel" style as DH wouldnt be seen dead carrying a "hand bag" style nappy bag around. Lol!! He actually even joked & said that as the bag is plum cover when he is out with bubs he'll put the nappy bag inside of his adidas satchel lol!!

Lady.......wow, I didn't realize you have the mini city BJ also. Thanks for the tips & filling me in with your input. I really appreciate your honesty. I'm sure it will be ok (well it will have to be lol) yes I might have to have a play with yours on Friday. DH was super impressed with it when I got it home (mainly as it's so damn simple to fold & he loved how it has the windows on the hood lol) even though most prams these days do. Have you purchased any accessories for yours? Babies direct online have some. I really want to get the tray for baby & for me the cup & pockets for drinks, phone, keys, purse etc. (I think it's about $40)
As for the house situation gees it's a tough call. I've got friends who live just down the road from you & love the area but the house was just wayy too small for there family of four. They were going to knock it down & rebuild BUT after looking into it was going to cost much more than moving & knocking down the house alone was going to cost alot. They then thought of buying establish around GGrove etc but everything they like was more expensive then they could afford so they went with the third & slightly cheaper option which was to renovate the entire house (as it was very 70's style) & do an extension. They are very happy with there decision & the house looks fantastic I think all up cost about 150k but because they went through the same builder for extension as well as rennos for the rest of the house they got good discount. Only thing is they do have a bigger block than you so maybe a similar but different option for you guys could be to look into renovating your house & extending upstairs. You could render your house, have a lovely balcony upstairs with a few more bedrooms & maybe a family room & ensuite for mum & dad maybe!! Just a thought & at least that way you won't lose any of your b/yard. I would probably look into this & get some quotes along with quotes for how much to have your house knocked down & rebuild & also keep an eye on established homes to keep your options open.
DH & I would love to build our dream house oneday & love the hilly areas around Sals Heights. Unfortunatly to get the size block we want in this area is going to cost a mint. Like Lulusmum once we've paid of this house we will start saving. I hate the thought of a huge mortgage & also have never been o/seas nor go on holidays much. Where just trying to pay off as much as possible but don't want to move until house is paid off. Where lucky to have four bedrooms though, although I wish they were bigger & the thought building from scratch is so appealing having everything just how you want it from the start. Unfortunatly when it comes to what we'd like to build & what we can really afford we may need to come down to earth a bit lol!!! Whenever checking out real-estate I seem to checkout the properties worth 1 mil plus!!! (dream on lol)

Kiwi......that would be great if you can make it on Friday also, will be lovely to meet you & hear all about your trip

Waiting.... mate! you know the offer is there too for me to help with lexi for a day until you get daycare sorted. hope your dad and partner get things sorted!

LM....good on you and all the buying and selling you did! would be awesome to do that but we certainly can't afford to run 2 properties! you sound like you'll be set for life! well done! I also wonder if we have the same target ryco bag? i see lots of people have them and they're awesome. we bought ours for $40 and it fits everything perfectly!

Digby.....Dh was a bit worried too about me buying a new pram but the first time he used the BJ he knew i was right (again!). . I would love one of the trays too that goes by the handle for the drinks/purse/keys/dummy etc! i wonder if we got one each in the same order we could save on delivery cost?? do you have a link you can send me so i can see what the tray is like? definetely feel free to take my pram for a spin along the footpath so you can feel what it's like for outdoor use. I too didn't have much choice cos of finances but at least it's a wicked little driver for the shops! I took my valco out today and felt the difference as the valco has the air tyres. but hey, we gotta do what we gotta do and i'm glad you appreciated my honesty. i tried to say it in the nicest way possible as i just wanted you to know that i dont find it the best for outdoor use, especially if you were going to use it constantly outside.

Winzy....we haven't got a portacot yet but just make sure that it's got a good soft mattress/base for baby! when we went to sydney the one that the IL's lent us had a hard rock bottom with a rod that went through the middle. it was a childcare brand. They tend to buy decent stuff too. So i'm wondering whether they purposely didn't give us the mattress or whether that's just how the portacot came. so, we had to stuff the portacot with couch cussions and etc to make for a 'soft' bed for our little baby. no way was i going to have him sleeping over a rod! IL's..........
As for nappy bags, yep get a decent unisex style one that you both can use but then i also suggest getting a small-ish zip lock bag that you can put a nappy and spare clothes and etc in that you can fit into the tray of your pram for those quick trips to the shops or out to a restaurant or something. we took the big nappy bag everywhere including shops and restaurants but i felt like an idiot carrying it around. Luckily one of DH colleagues got us a little ziplock bag that you can fit a few things in and when i first saw it i said to myself that it's not something that looks like i would like to use, however, i use it all the time now so that all i have to do is chuck it in the pram basket, chuck my wallet and phone and keys in the pram basket too and off we go, saves carrying a big bag around. the only time i take the big bag is if we're off to someones house or something where i dont have to carry it around.

Has anyone made a booking for lunch on friday??

Thanks for your thoughts on nappy bags and porta cots. A smallish nappy bag for little trips is a good idea, I might just have to check out Target for more affordable options. Also, will def be packing up / putting away in the shop good thinking people.

Soooo we have Digby (hopefully), Lilybaby, Ladysnit (+ C), Liv (+ C) WH, LM ( + twinnies) kiwigem and Winzy is that all? Have I missed anyone? Sorry...is too late? Can Emi and I come on Friday too? Let me know if you want me to call up and change the booking. We'll need a high chair too. Hope that's ok.

Winzy - we have the baby bjorn portacot and I've never looked back. I was so glad we spent the extra money and got that one. We travelled a lot from Syd-Adl so it was great for that. Took it camping too. It's light and unpacks/packs really easily and the carry bag is good too. We still use the mattress for it now too sometimes and put it on the floor for her. Check out the others as well but I just wanted to tell you that it is a ggood one and I'm glad we got it. We had a horrible scare when Emi was two weeks old as we couldn't wake her up. We called an ambulance and they took us to hospital but she did slowly slowly wake up just as the bulance arrived. Tests were done etc and nothing wrong was found but it did happen a few more times. Anyway perhaps that influenced our decision to spend the extra money on the poracot.

Waiting - so sorry you're having such a sh*tty time with your family.

Hi to everyone. I'll be back soon for more personals. Hope you've all had a great Easter.

I would have loved to come Friday, but we are seeing my parents in law off at the airport then straight to Middleton. Hope you all have a great lunch.

Hope all had a great Easter. Spencer had his first choccy and lived it, so now he points to it all the time.
Went to oakbank yesterday and had a great time looking at horses and checking out helicopters and a great little petting zoo they had as well. He may be a sideshow junky too. Loved looking at the rides go around, and put balls in the clown's mouth.
I'm doing well. Now and then getting ms, but otherwise well, and starting to show already. May have to tell my mum soon!!
Bbl. Sorry for lack of personals

    Hi all,

Back to Dads today and home on Thurs.

Waiting - Sorry to hear about your Dad. I'm happy to help with A if you get stuck, kids are back at school next week, so just S and me most of the day.

Lisa - I thought LM had won the lotto too. It's hard isn't it, our mortgage is HUGE!!!! BOO! I'd love to rebuild our house as I love our neighbourhood, but rennovatating is the way we are (slowly) going.

Winzy - I agree with the others, go for a cheapie portacot. I tend to use backpacks as nappy bags, so DH will help carry it. And once bubs is older, I only carry around a nappy change, cup, snack and bib. which fits in my handbag.
I'm child free for the lunch.

MG - Glad to hear S is better.
LM - Can't wait to meet the twins.
Liv - Great to hear C is better.

Weather is crap here! Only had 3 nice days. Mum is sick now, sigh... See some of you on Fri..... Got to see Grandad finally.
