Stalking? Probably dumb question

I'd like to know what people mean when they are referring to when they talk about stalking on this forum ? I have seen some people even say 'happy to be stalked by xyz' ?

Does it mean when you read posts and but not contribute to it? Have I been doing this without realizing? Is it not the done thing???

Sorry if this is a dumb question I just really don't know what it means in this context (insert embarrassed face here).

Haha it's called stalking because initially, that's what your doing. Following threads and posts by a certain person or a few people. It's relevant for Facebook stalking too. It's usually just a harmless thing people do to gather information. some people take it too far and stalk with the intention to use some info against you but generally it's just a new terminology to describe the way individuals sometimes browse online.
