Default Dr Geoff Crawford - Sydney/Maitland/Singleton

Has anyone seen this paed? DS1 has been referred to him, and he is a behavioural specialist and just looking for any personal experiences with him. I know of one lady who took her 4yo to him, and within 10minutes of meeting him he suggested medicating him (after a second opinion, he is now medicated with 2 different ADHD medications, so not sure if he is good or jumped the gun and fluked it).

I am rather anti-medication where other options are available, but know that I need to resign myself to the fact that sometimes, some people need medicating.

Hey - don't know him (you already know that).

"I know of one lady who took her 4yo to him, and within 10minutes of meeting him he suggested medicating him."

Personally to me, with the background I have - that says stay away.

However.... you're intelligent and already have a healthy skepticism of unnecessary medication so I'm sure you'll be able to judge for yourself if he conducts a thorough assessment and has been able to present you with a number of options.

Who referred you to him? Was it a GP or a Paed? If GP - perhaps worth going to see a 'regular' Paed first?

Also - it's worth thinking about whether a developmental psychologist might be able to provide you with better answers and options?

ETA: There is a paed around who will give a diagnosis of ADHD or autism in 10 mins flat with a bit of pressure from parents or a school. Can't recall his name but will find out just to make sure it's NOT him
