Default Car seats Help me decide! please :)

    I have a DS 3 and half 16kg and DD 7 weeks.

DD is fine for now as she is in a infant carrier, but she is a big baby so will need a convertable seat eventually. Id like to keep her reaward facing as close or up to age 2 as i can thinking i will need a tall seat?
    any ideas?

DS convertable seat needs replacing so cant keep it for DD, he is 16kg maybe 17 by now will have to weigh him again.
Cant decide if i should go a convertable booster or straight booster with H harness?
    Any ideas? and which brand?
If i go convertable booster for DS then when DD gets to 8kg she could have it and id get DS a booster... or have a convertable baby seat till she is 18kg then a booster, and a booster for DS now?

    TIA

my 2.5 yr old rearfaces in a safensound meridian ahr. These are no longer available but the meridian tilt and adjusts are fantastic. I would go that your your dd. I would not forward face an 8 kilo bub and def not in a convertible booster. I would use the tilt and adjust til 18 kilo then a regular booster.
Buy the tilt and adjust and your ds can use it til 18kilo while your dd uses her capsule then put dd in tilt and adjust and ds in booster. I like the hiliners we have two. Hth

The Safe n Sound tilt and adjust can only remain rearfacing till 12kgs! There is NO carseat on the Australian market that can hold a child heavier than 12kgs in a rear-facing position.

earlygrey - I would not be using an 18kg child in a rear-facing meridian AHR.

You DS would be best off in a Safe n Sound Maxirider AHR, and your DD would be best to go into a Safe n Sound meridian or tilt and adjust once she outgrows the capsule and can remain rear-facing in the convertable seat untill 12kgs then she must be turned around.

    Goodluck!

Taken from the Britax website for description and use of Meridian AHR Tilt and Adjust...

"Converts from rearward-facing to forward-facing - child can remain rearward-facing up to 12kgs"

i would not use a maxirider as there is not point when her ds can use the tilt and adjust til 18 kilo then go into a booster like a hiliner. It's just an extra pointless seat. They are very big and very annoying to use in harness mode. This way she buys one seat now, the tilt and adjust, and when she needs to move her dd into a bigger seat, just get a hiliner for her ds. Cheaper option too.

I don't think a maxirider is a waste i'd be much more reassured having my child in a Maxirider AHR till 26kgs then in a Hiliner from 18kgs..

thats ok! I should have said so lol
hiliners rate very well(at least they used to)
i am very very picky about car safety and would go a hiliner for a child over 18 kilos and 4 yrs old anyday. Younger, no. In fact my dd was able to stay in her meridian til she was 5.5 so that was great she was more mature when put in the hiliner. We used a H harness for a while now just seatbelt(she is 7 in oct) you cannot use the harness to 26 kilo in the maxirider anyway, and the size of them and how pita they are to use as a booster.. May as well use a hiliner. Maxiriders are no longer the best boosters apparently..

Thanks heaps Ladies! I will go with the Safe n Sound tilt and adjust for now then DS has been 16kg for a long time now so by the time bub is out of her capsual he should be ready for the next seat.
