Sorry I seen this thread last week and didnt get back to reply!!
My step son has a "food addiction". His 15, and growing normally. He has aspergers syndrome which is apparently the cause.
He wakes, sets alarms to wake in the night to steal food. He has admitted he is not hungry at those times, but he has to... eat, have food. No matter what it is, from left overs to tinned tuna, we even found frozen dim sims stashed to thaw in his room.
When he does eat his meals he eats very very fast like it will disappear if he doesnt. We have tired everything from cutting out sugars and junk to goving him more food but nothing makes any difference.
He will do any chore, job, favour to get food or money for food. (We dont use this, I think it would cause more harm than good.) We have even been called to his school for "not feeding him", as he ws going to them saying he was given no lunch so they would give him more food.
He was extremely over-weight till about 2 years ago when we finally put our foot down and limited his intake, he still gets his 3 meals, 2 snacks and there is always fruit available. He is now in the healthy weight range.
Not sure what info you were looking for but feel free to PM me anytime if you think I may be able to help!

Hi Mums,
I am a mother and frequently use these chat forums for my 8 month old son. I am the communications manager of a company called Healthshare which is an online social health chat forum which has just been launched in Australia. We have a community which focusses on Parenting & Children's Health which covers a whole range of topics within communities ranging from food allergies for children to eczema and breastfeeding. You could join this community and speak with other parents who are facing similar health challenges with their children. We had a community on Food Addiction which you could join to speak with people facing similar challenges.
Healthshare www.healthshare.com.au offers more than 400 Australian support communities focusing medical and life challenges like cancer, weight loss, depression, parenting and diabetes. Members can connect with communities and other members facing similar challenges, share advice about treatment options, doctor recommendations and write in their wellness journals. It’s a new way of interacting with people that you may not be able to connect with in a real life or online social network environment. I hope you find it a useful tool for your childs health and your own.
