Maybe using rolls or wraps (same price as bread) to make it more interesting/varied for them?

Ummm how about quiche or frittatas. Savoury muffins, left over dinners. You could try wraps with different fillings, salad and hommus, turkey and cranberry, chicken and avacado. Or salads. You could do cous cous salad, tuna niscoise (sp?) chicken ceasar salad, cold pasta salad. Home made pizzas made the night before or vegetarian pastas.

Can you buy or make savoury scrolls? I know bakers delight have mini scrolls with ham and cheese or cheesy mite. Also make pizza the night before and send cold pizza slices. Or just rice crackers rather than bread with spread.
Also how about rice paper rolls, spanikopita, tuna sushi rolls. In colder weather you can do soups like pumpkin soup and put them in a thermos. What about homemade
Sausage rolls (vegetarian version if you worried about it spoiling in the lunch box)

Be careful when letting go of things you think mean nothing to you, You just might end up looking back and realising you let go of something you wanted after all...
Rice or corn cakes. Its what i use for my DD, i also give her carrot sticks, an egg, cucumber and celery. She thinks its pretty good.
Being old fashioned is nothing to be ashamed of, it did our parents and grandparents well.

Pasta salad homemade with tuna, olives, capsicum etc through it or other fillings.
Fried rice or rice salad
