You've probably already chosen your ob but I wanted to say that Dr Calandra saved my friends life when he was called in to take over because her ob had screwed up her c/s
I spoke to my ob at the time and she said he is one of the best and most experienced ob's. Not sure about his bedside manner though and I also agree with previous poster, he takes on more high risk cases and has been around for decades so you'll probably read more about him.
I've also heard Dr How is good too.
    Good Luck

Well I went to see him and yes he was straight to the point - no bull**** and I respected that. (I need it lol since I have a bag full of excuses for every occasion and he would not take any of them hahaa)

I found him very professional - my mum and I tried for the whole 40 mins to make him laugh and it wasnt until the very end that he cracked himself up while calling me a pain in the ****.. It was very funny (I took no offence to this as I know I am well and truly a pain in the ****!!)

He was also extremely knowledgable - I went in for an ob appointment and came out with information on my long list of allergies and pains and how I can help get rid of them m=naturally with or without pregnancy.. Even when Ive been seeing specialists and surgeons for years (mainly my GORD) and NONE of them have come close to giving me simple and logical advice to help. I was gobsmacked at how helpful he was.

Since Ive heard a lot of bad and good about him and so I decided to ask the nurses while waiting to see him and they all said that there was definitely a vendetta against him but if the board of medicine can see that they were not legitimate then who are we (people with no knowledge or long term experience) to say that he should have been held accountable.

Again - I know how hard it is when something goes wrong and in a time of despair - us women can bunch together to find a person to point the finger at - and who would be better than a doc.

Ive always been a very good judge of character and I believe and trust that he will do the best he can.

And please also hear this - I was going in with the full intention of finding someone else - but wanted to give him the benefit of the doubt and see what I honestly felt for myself.

I believe I have made the right choice.

Thanks again ladies for your opinions - they all helped in making the decision that was right for me.

I've used him and he is fantastic. Of course in his job things will go wrong & of course people will sue but he does the best he can with whatever situation he faces. I found him to be wonderful.

Hi OP. You made right choice. He was my OB three years ago. He is really professional, skilled and experienced doctor. I had so many health issues during pregnancy but he saved my life. He definitely don't pamper you like a child. But he knows his work. You will see that his waiting room is always full, because people can judge him for his straight forward behaviour but at the end he is most knowledgeable and experienced doctor. I would highly recommend him. And i will always go to him in future.
