*hugs* kedgie. We're both lacking the elusive 'O' this cycle
*hugs* kedgie. We're both lacking the elusive 'O' this cycle
Hopefully things will be better for you next cycle, Miggins. I'm moving straight on to a higher dose of Clomid. Hopefully that will do the trick.
Thanks Kedgie, I hope the higher dose does the trick for you! FX
Everyone else, hope you've had a good start to the week.
AFM, mixed feelings for me tonight. Had FS appointment and he confirmed no O and no follies, lots of PCOS, but none have actually grown anywhere near enough. I'm no where near o'ing. Today is CD27. This has only been my first round on (50mg) Clomid & Metformin, but because my body has been completely unresponsive, he said Clomid is just not going to work for me.
Has anyone else been told this after one round??
He then started talking about our other 2 options being FSH injections + IUI...... or IVF. Both DH & I don't want to go straight to IVF, so are going to try at least one go at FSH, but are both not keen on the IUI bit :'( kind of turns it clinical, would rather have the FSH, but just DTD normally (I know a lot of people go down this road and to full IVF, just was not expecting we'd be going there so quickly )
Reminds me of how crap my body is :'(
I was a bit shocked by it all, was not what I was expecting . I expected (knew) Clomid had not worked, but I guess I thought he'd persist for a couple of cycles and maybe increase dosage of Clomid.
Does this sound right to others? Moving so quickly? Has this happened to anyone else?
I assume he knows what he's doing and has seen it all before so is pretty confident when he knows it is not going to work for me???
Has anyone refused the IUI part and just had the FSH injections? (and try DTD naturally)?
Thanks for "listening"
Oh Miggin, I'm not there yet but I really feel for you and I'm sending you some big Sounds like you've had a really tough day. If there is nothing wrong with your DH's swim team then I can't see why you can't DTD naturally.
Good luck with everything and for you
DH' swimmers are fine, not the most fantastic in the world, but within normal ranges, I guess. As long as that one special one makes it all the way I guess ;P haha
With FSH I am a little concerned about the increased chance of multiples! Being my first. DH says maybe it would be good to get it over with in one go, two for the price of one! He would say that! He's not the one who would be carrying them
How are you going?
Miggins I am at exactly the same stage as you and my FS was very quick to recommend puregon injectable pen. Actually wrote about it in my post yesterday.
We are going to see what happens but if we have a few good follies we are going to just dtd and not do iui this cycle. We will do this for three or so goes and then do iui after that. Also I have had two injections now one by FS and one by dh and it's really easy.
I have been feeling really headachy tonight but not a bad headache and that could be because I had a stressful day at work. Other than that no side effects so far so I am really happy. :-)
Yeah it's Fsh and the pen is easy. R u in Brisbane? Ask the specialist for a pen if u want one because it's definitely made the descision so much easier.
We are ttc 1 but no luck so far thanks Tony ovaries :-( but hopefully with this needle pen we will. I wrote a big reply before but then my laptop died lol
Basically it's better success with the injectables and like a 30 percent higher chance of multiples than clomid. I secretly want twins - always have lol but one healthy bub would be just so perfect
I am happy he's not wasting my time and although was hoping clomid would work like crazy and I'd be a lucky one.
I am so glad other people are going through this and I can read about it because it's so consuming sometimes :-)
Congratulations MrsPump So happy for you!!
Littlejoey - Good luck with the FSH injections!! The pen makes it so easy to do them. At first I was only getting DH to do them but in the end I was able to inject myself so that was good. Don't panic on Monday if your follies haven't grown very much yet it can some times take a couple of weeks to get the dose right for you. I'll be keeping my that it works first go for you!!
Miggins - I did FS injections and DTD at the right time and got my BFP first go. I was never offered IUI but I think I would have chosen to give timed BD a go first. The monitor you very closely to ensure you don't grow too many follies. My FS told me that if 2 follies become a good size then they will discuss with us whether we proceed and if anymore than 2 follies are ready than the cycle is automatically canceled....not sure if all FS have the same rules as such. The chance of multiples is definetly higher than clomid but still relatively small in the overall picture. In regards to the pen the purgeon(FSH) is given through the pen but the trigger and hormone shots (pregnyl) is through a syringe. Good luck with what ever you decide.
Sending lot's of to everyone
Miggins - I hear ya . I was shocked at my FS after my surgery to be told that we could try clomid for a few months, we had a low chance of it working, and that we were going to be moving onto IVF after that before my endo could grow back. I seemed ok after the appt, then it really hit me a few days later and I was so upset. Now I am at the stage that I just want to start IVF and stop dilly-dallying around! Perhaps my new FS will have another opinion though. I hope the FSH injections are a winner for you!
Littlejoey - do you know if they use the pen for the injections you give yourself for IVF as well? Seems so much less scary than a syringe. Good luck!
Kedgie - good luck for your higher dose!
Sammy - how is your pregnancy going? Have you told most people you know now?
AFM: Felt so low all day, DH kept asking me what was wrong and I couldn't really give an answer, had been anxious the night before for no reason, then the penny dropped - it is probably PMS, I rarely get it but when I have I get anxious. Bugger . I'll still test on Friday morning with FR as it is not due until Sunday and I want to let the FS know. I just want to start something that will work dammit!
