Another one that gets to me is the overuse of exclamation points! It makes things very difficult to read because every sentence reads like the person is really excited! Sometimes what they're saying isn't even very exciting! It's confusing!
I'm a terror for overusing exclamation marks! Maybe I'm permanently excited!!

There's a great book called "Eats, Shoots and Leaves". It's ranty, yet informative.

My favourite job at work is proof-reading - I'm so very sad!

My grammar is okay but i don't know everything and i would appreciate learning so perhaps people could explain the correct way to use words rather than just saying it is annoying.
ie instead of just saying 'I hate it when people mix up brought and bought' you could explain the difference. Hopefully it might help someone reading from making the mistake.

I get brought/bought confused but i believe brought means to bring and bought means you have purchased something ie 'I bought a new car' and 'I brought my drunk friend home'
    Is that right?

Please excuse any grammatical errors in my post :P
Sometimes i dont think people listen/care. DP gets them wrong ALL the time. After 4yrs of constant correcting (and explaining the difference) he STILL doesnt use the words in the right context.

If you want to check out really poor grammar join the fb group Babys Bumps Mummys. The dribble that comes from some is atrocious.

My biggest hate is auto finish and auto correct. My phone is illiterate. I have got to the point where I no longer fix mistakes. People that know me in real life know that I'm no dummy so I don't care.
My phone spells definately instead of definitely. Changes s to z and many other painful rubbish.

Bought - past tense of to buy "I bought some bread from the shop"

Brought - past tense of to bring "I brought some bread from home"

Now - can someone please explain who/whom?

    Thanks

who and whom. in layman's terms (difficult because i've studied 3 inflected languages!)

you know what a subject and object in a sentence are? who is subject, whom is object and also used in prepositional phrases. that's about as layman as i get sadly.

    for example: who is coming?

    whom did you meet?

that's the person to whom i gave it.

most people just use who for everyhting now though.

There's not much hope based on the group title, really?
