Yes - definitely (and defiantly) agree with the 'comprises' one.

Also, people using plural terms when referring to a company name. E.g., "Coca Cola are a company based in the USA." There may be many people at the company, but the company name is still singular: it refers to one company. "Coca Cola is a company based in the USA."

I see it all the time - especially in company newsletters. "Blenkinsopp Ltd are pleased to announce..." Nooooooooo!!!!

Ok. I was just watching Yo Gabba Gabba (the joys), and a girl was teaching every one to do a dance. I thought she was ok, until she said, "Ok, now it's your guyses turn". OMG! Children are listening!

DD has taken a liking to Waybuloo on ABC. She loves puppies so the characters must remind her of them. Anyway, the characters refer to themselves in third person and speak in broken sentences - for example, "Blah Blah find birdy. Blah Blah help birdy be happy". It drives me nuts! Thankfully the kids on the show use correct sentences. Grrr.

Have just noticed the blackboards outside my local veggie/deli place. All have the first word of whatever they're selling in speech marks, e.g. "Australian" kiwis, "chicken" schnitzel. Why oh why?

    Oh dear, the mind boggles.

The only explanation is that they're using scare quotes, indicating that the word doesn't convey its literal meaning... if it's not literally chicken, what is it?!

I was playing Words With Friends this morning, and it allowed my friend to use "octopi"!

    NOT impressed!
