I thought the same as Lambjam....do you mean you hate to see words like "photo's" (photos)?

the lady in front of me in a queue once ordered a skinny latte with soy. um.. i know that has nothing to do with grammar sorry

i, too, am confused about the apostrophe thing, sahie. possession is one of their basic uses..

If I order coffee out I'll ask for a skinny soy decaf latte. I'm not sure what the issue is - is it that they ask for a latte "with soy" and not a "soy latte"?

One of my pet peeves (and I'm sorry if it has already rated a mention) is when people mix up bare and bear - eg 'bare with me'.

because (correct me if i'm wrong, any baristas out there) the skinny bit is low-fat milk. skinny soy well.. what sort of milk do you want then? that's my issue with it. lol
latte means they do a particular thing with the milk. soy latte and latte with soy i take to mean exactly the same thing. decaf is about the beans. i used to be a regular drinker of decaf soy lattes.. sigh.. i miss soy milk.

Right, skinny or light is the milk and even though (I'm pretty sure) you can get different versions of soy at the supermarket, it would be impossible for coffee shops to have every kind of milk available.

I just passed a mobile phone repair shop whose big sign proclaimed "Repair's while you shop!"... I wasn't game to take a photo though.

I'm confused by what you said about apostrophes though... do you mean that you believe they don't denote possession?

Yes, that's a great example of what I meant! The poor, little apostrophe is hanging there in the word "repairs" and denoting possession. The repair doesn't own anything so please don't abuse it like that! "Photo's" is another one I see all the time, it makes me

I would have taken a photo! My friend collects such photos on facebook. I added one to her collection at Christmas - "Buy one scarve, get one free."

One of my little lovelies used this expression - "He was the slipping image of his father."
