Lola - I love "eats, shoots and leaves" - brilliant book.

This thread is very educating. I apologise for my grammar - it has gotten worse since I has my phone and damn auto correct!'

    LOVE this thread!

I'm so sorry everyone, I'm pretty sure I am guilty of the "definAte" error
    Never again

As for what annoys me, weary vs. wary.

"He creeps me out, I'm definItely weary of him". What? He creeps you out and yet you are tired of him?!

IT'S WARY!!! If you are cautious about something/someone then you are wary, not weary. If you were weary of somone, you would be tired of them
    That's just my pet peeve
However, I am in no way perfect, seriously how many grammatical errors did I just make?

    What a great thread.

The 'loose' instead of 'lose' is the one that really makes me cringe. I'm also not a fan of interchanging were/where/we're.

My spelling and grammar aren't perfect, but when people get the basics wrong it does annoy me. My brother is the worst offender, I hate reading his Facebook page, punctuation doesn't exist in his world.

Oh, and it drives me nuts when DH is making a point verbally and he uses the word 'period' and the end of his sentence. You're Australian, it's a full stop (full-stop?) damn it!

True but some people do care, like me.
I am not the best at grammar but i do think it is important so when something is explained to me i can go on to apply those rules.
For example i get affect/effect confused but thanks to this thread i now understand the difference so will use them correctly now.

Thank you to everyone who has taken the time to explain

In essays, important letters or emails I use proper grammar and spelling. On bh, fb and texts I don't worry about it. I'm usually on my iPhone which I hate typing on as it's either always too sensitive or it's not sensitive enough or I'm too busy doing other things to care. I would never pull someone up on grammar or spelling, it is so rude.

I might just add, my DH is terrible on fb but is incredibly intelligent and has great spelling and grammar when it matters.

    "Yous"

There is no plural to the word 'you'.

Don't say "Yous should come over to dinner" (or worse: "you's" ).

Maybe try "you guys" or "you all" instead, or better yet, "You should all come over for dinner". *happy sigh*
