*spin off* Are you BPA free/semi free?

I've been thinking about this a lot lately.

Is there anyone that is BPA free?

Can you recommend some products to me?

Neither of my DD's use bottles, so that's not a problem... they do drink from plastic cups, but they aren't heated and we don't have a dishwasher, so they are just washed with 'tap hot' water.

Because I shop and cook in bulk, I use a lot of plastic storage and I think I need to do an overhaul of my plastics....

I've been thinking a bit about this too, I'm guessing I'm not entirely BPA free, but I'm more aware about the plastics I'm buying. Anything to do with my kids I will aim to get BPA free, but from my understanding BPA is only present in clear plastics? I could be wrong but I think I heard that somewhere, and is only dangerous when heated at high temps.

Do you know if the danger is just immediately following heating? Or does heating it permanently alter the chemical makeup?

I am with all of the important products that get heated like food containers and baby bottles, but I am sure I have other products in the house that contain BPA.

I'm a Tupperware demonstrator, and I get asked about BPA at almost every party I do. Tupperware just brought out an information brochure on BPA.

I try to be but I'm sure I'm not 100% so many things contain BPA.

I buy water and I buy one where the packaging has no BPA.

I also have storage containers that have no BPA, so I can freeze and heat without issue.

Tupperware is the only plastic ware I own. (And love mind you).

But besides that it is purely coincidental that I am BPA free.

The biggest myth they have put to rest with tupperware products is the #7 recycle code. MUCH of the media out there tell you to avoid #7, BUT things are given that code because of mixed plastic, which *may* contain BPA - however pretty much all tupperware products with #7 (which is quite a few) have NO BPA, so it makes that much simpler.

For the rest....depending on where you are - you might just have to book a party! kidding - thats just all I can remember without the booklet. Pretty sure the stuff that does have it in it, is at really low levels and is heavily encased, so the coating stops it from leaching out if that makes any sense.

About 99% of current Tupperware is BPA free, the only items that are not are products that are not designed to be heated such as the clear mates for your fridge etc. The heat'n'eat containers and drink bottles etc are all 100% safe.

As an additional fact, all Tupperware products are dyed using food dye rather than nasty chemicals, so the colour can't hurt you either.

Tupperware products sold in Australia are also made using only the current most strict plastic laws in the world at the time of manufacture. Usually the strictest rules are in Australia, however if for example the current law for China is the strictest, then that is the one that is followed.

Yes, we are BPA free. I also generally don't heat in plastic at all.
I heard a guy on the radio who write "death by rubber ducky" about 12 months ago and totally freaked out.
