Hi neen I'm new to all this also. I also live on the GC and was looking at those clinics too. My GP has recomended Monash because Dr Ong who is there is supposed to be really good. He specialised in fertility straight up instead of being a GYN first and then turning to fertility. She said she has worked with him before and he is great. Haven't heard much about City Fertility. I also looked at Fertility GC who did my lap a few years ago, they seem to be more expensive again though.

We are doing IVF for the same reason, DH has no sperm in his semen (not sure of cause yet but he hasn't had a vasectomy or anything) so we will need to do TESA and ICSI. Providing of course they find some swimmers in there somewhere!

Keep me posted on how you go with the clinics, and if I go to Monash before you i'll let you know what they are like.

Hi again ladies! It's nice to find some GC ladies to chat to!!

Mandshands congratulations! That is wonderful news...and even better that it came through Dr Ong! As I say, I haven't actually started IVF yet, but have found him really personal and informative and not pushy about IVF the way I have experienced with my previous FS. I mean I know we need IVF, but I felt he didn't push us into making a decision about committing to their program.

    Hi neen

So totally happy to update you and share my experience. I too am seeing Dr Ong. He is the most amazing, kind, compassionate, personable Dr I have ever met. The man is nothing short of amazing!!! Prior to starting this current cycle with him I had a laporoscopy with him about 18 months ago. As they were also planning on checking pretty much everything while they were there Dr Ong knew I was pertified. Right as I was going under he held my hand and stroked it and told me he promised to look after me. If I hadnt of fallen asleep right away i would have cried!!!! What a beautiful man! So it was with those thoughts that I went through the operation. Needless to say the operation went well and I recovered very quickly.

So after another 18 months of TTC naturally I have finally gone back to Dr Ong to start another cycle. Currently I am still injecting and will most likely have EPU this week sometime. Both DH and I have found him to be very open and knowledgable to all things. He is holistic and encourages you to continue on with things like acupuncture.

Monash are expensive, there is no doubt about that. But in all honesty when you are spending upwards of $6000 whats another $2000?? Realistically its the same as getting your car fixed. If you want it done properly you pay the top $$ and get the mechanic to fix it, if you dont you pay the apprentice and hope for the best. It is exactly the same with IVF.

Dr Ong is a Professor! His entire life studies have been in infertility. He is not a gyno convert. Dr Davidson at CFC is just that. And I found him (Davidson) to be completely incompetant and out of touch and his reception staff were nothing short of b*@chy! Given they were much cheaper, its my experience that you always get what you pay for!! Why pay all that money with someone who is not the leader in the field?!

Everyone I know who has been to see Ong has come away pregnant. I would pay him twice his fees to get a baby, he is amazing.

So with that I am currently up to day 13 with another scan and blood test tommorow. At last scan I had 7 follicles!!!! This is amazing as the cycles with CFC I had one with nothing and the second with 3. I put this down to the fact that for the 2 months leading up to this cycle Dr Ong put me on DHEA and we are pretty convinced it has helped.

So hopefully only a few more days of injecting and we will have our EPU.

    Will keep you posted neen!

    xxx

I really have to say I think Dr Ong is truly amazing. I haven't seen him yet, but today I emailed with a few questions and concerns and within about 2 hours I got an email back from him. I do not know even a GP that would email you! My GP had said to wait to see FS until after we got my DH sorted out, but Dr Ong said he would rather see us sooner, just so he can rule out any other issue that might get in the way of TTC. You really have to give credit to a Doctor that will take time out of his day, to email someone who is not yet even a patient, just to put their mind at ease and get no fees for it. Thats a big wow in my book. I have definitely made up my mind that he will be my FS.

By the way ladies, some bad news from the uro today. He said physically DH is fine so there must be some kind of sperm production issue. This was not the news I had hoped for as it brings our chances down alot. but i guess i have to put my faith in these doctors and hope they can make a miracle happen.

That is great aunty! I also have found that he is usually pretty easy to get an appointment with as well!

Sounds like a lot of us have MFI so I hope that dr ong can work miracles with just a few spermies!! Ha ha

Neen I agree, yesterday I was feeling very down about all of this but Dr Ong has given me some hope. He actually emailed again last night to ask if he could call me today to discuss our case further. I have never come across anyone like him before. I hope you get to go and see him soon. Also if you end up needing a urologist for your DH he had great things to say about Dr Neil Smith who is also in Southport.

Kitty Looking forward to hearing how you go with him also when you start your IVF. It does look like there are a few of us with MFI. Most of the forums I have found are more for girlie troubles so it's nice to chat to people on the other side of it. It's almost harder when it's MFI as more of the control is taken away from us and we have to rely more on our DH's cooperating. Which i'm sure you amy all agree is sometimes quite difficult!!

Well ladies to you all and lets keep this forum going so we can support each other. Also nice to chat to other GC ladies!

    Hi Aunty

Yes it is nice to have other people with MFI to talk to! I found that when we were TTC#1, I wanted DH to understand exactly how I was feeling and respond the same way as me - I couldn't understand why he didn't get depressed when my AF arrived too!

This time around I am a little more accepting of letting him deal with it differently to me. And he doesn't want to talk about it at all, but I have learnt that that doesn't mean he doesn't care. It does make me frustrated that I can't control it (or him!) but I also don't try to discuss it with him at every moment, I talk to other friends a lot instead of using him as my only sounding post. It might not be perfect, but I think he finds it difficult when I want to talk about "why us?" and he just accepts it and gets on with his day!

I hope all you G C ladies are doing well today

    Hi ladies,

I've heard amazing things about Dr Ong as well & monash does have the better statistical success rates. I just wanted to say I've been with Fertility GC and just got a BFP I'm 12 weeks tomorrow. I thought they were also good - but I had 3 x unsuccessful IUI's before moving to IVF then on my first full stim cycle from 13 eggs only 3 fertilized with only 1 viable for a 3 day transfer resulting in BFN followed by a 2nd full stim cycle with 15 eggs collected. I had OHSS with this cycle and was in hospital for 4 days but went ahead with ET resulting in bfp + 9 day 5 frosties

    Hi Everyone

I have been meaning to get back in and see how you are all going. Its nice to have some other Gold Coast gals on here to chat with.

You are all making me want to go and see Dr Ong right now! I have decided that if my FET isn’t successful I am going to go and see him. I already feel like I like him so much more than my FS! Just from how lovely I have read he is.

It does seems like most of your are dealing with MFI. I’m the opposite its me that has the fertility issues not DH.

Kitty – Are you starting your first cycle in March??

Neen – How are you going with your decision?

Auntyof 5 – How are you and DH going after the apointment the other day?

Toshe hun I have been wondering how you are going. 12 weeks already! I hope your feeling good and bubs is all good too.
