Hates the capsule

Hi,

My DS, now 10 weeks, absolutely hates the capsule. I thought he'd be over it by now, particularly since school started and we have to go out at least twice a day and in a bit of a routine. He gets soooo worked up its horrible to get him out of the car red and upset. As soon as I get him out he stops crying. The drive is about 10 minutes.

Can others give me hope that it will soon stop? I get so upset and on edge that I cant have him settled to go out anywhere cause he gets so worked up. I hate hearing him cry and be upset, it breaks my heart. I just want him to be happy.

I have tried to settle him for 5 mins in it inside home, like rocking it etc. but happiness only lasts a little while. Sometimes I wonder that he's so attached to me that its even the fact he cant see/feel me....

We bought the travel system where you can transfer the capsule onto the pram and I just wish I could use it more and keep him sleeping/settled.

we have the travel system too our lil boy used to love it but has been crying in it a lot lately and it wont put him to sleep. just confirmed that he has reflux too and a bit of a sore windy tummy which may contribute too.

Have to make sure he doesn't get to hot is well fed and nappy change. Have to be careful that the strap between his legs is't too tight on him.

If all this is done he can be happy in it....what about a soft toy to keep him distracted or a dummy? maybe even bright stickers on the window to keep him entertained for the trip?

my dd was the same & around 4 months she changed - she stopped crying all the time when she was in the capsule & she would happily sit there for car trips for over an hour. I put a mirror on the seat head so she can see herself & i can see her when i drive she likes to look at herself in the mirror. Fisher price have a good one you strap around the seat head. I also found the dummy helped alot.

Dont worry things will change soon - the travel system ones are great - i wish i could still use mine but dd has grown out of it now.

Yep, tried all of the comfort things and made sure he's fed, clean and rested. He's got heaps of toys, I spent heaps of time a week ago adjusting it all to make sure it was comfortable for him. DD tries to entertain him and quieten him down.... nothing! He used to like the dummy but doesnt anymore.

Its so crazy when I think "Yep, all is good, perfect time to go out" cause he'll be all settled and should be right for at least an hour to go do a quick shop or something but it alls falls to pieces. There has been a couple of times I have had to pull over cause it sounded like he was starting to hold his breathe and was getting extremely tense!

Maybe could try getting him more used to it by putting him in the capsule during the day for a bit of playtime. Hopefully it might encourage him to associate the capsule with good things...

I had a similar problem with DS1 except I found out after a while the straps where slightly too tight causing him discomfort and I thought he just hated the car.

My DS was like this and I had to sit in the backseat with him sometimes or when we had long trips. It didn't change when he moved into a convertible either. He did get slightly better when forward facing but still quite often now at almost 2 he hates traveling in the car. Sometimes he's ok if he has something to play with or food but if he is in a bad mood we often still sit through half an hour trips of him crying. My DD was similar not as bad and I think by about 3 she grew out of sooking in the car. LOL sorry probably not what you wanted to hear.

my ds was exactly like this. it was heartbreaking, he would cry the whole time he was in the car, as soon as he was out he was fine. ds is now 4 months & things are settling down now & he is heaps more content in the car. so hopefully it wont be too long for u. i think it is just something they have to adapt to.
