...for some people there is a very fine line between being assertive and being aggresive.

For the most part I am a passive communicator but online I tend towards passive aggressiveness. I don't know why that is, I don't mean to be rude to anyone. I find it harder to communicate online.

I am totally not agressive - I am totally spineless lol. It takes a lot for me to "bite back", and even online i am unlikely to say anything nasty, unless something really horrid is said to me first. And then, my words dont come out properly lol....
Sas I would say assertive, not aggressive. You seem very intelligent, and from what I've seen manage to get your point across without being nasty or petty...

I'd say assertive communication majority of the time.

When I have the ****s or someone starts to really infuriate me I'm 100% sure I can become quite aggressive lol.

    I think I am 100% Passive Aggressive.
I speak with SO much sarcasm. I'm probably very annoying. Haha.
I can never just state what I want or need. I am a bit of a push over when it comes to my own wants and needs. But really aggressive when it comes to someone elses.

I found it really interesting to read through the responses! Most claim to be passive aggressive, passive, and trying to be assertive. Do you think this is the personality type of most people on a forum?

I am not at all passive or passive aggressive in my mind. I am very assertive, and aggressive. I don't think I am passive aggressive, which I see as being fake in a way. I don't know if this is the real meaning, but I personally see it as someone who just doesn't want to be seen as rude but is rude so they make the other person feel bad without being obvious about it so that they can get away with it and avoid confrontation. To me it is a pet peeve and is the biggest thing that can turn me from assertive to aggressive in seconds.

I conciously have to try to be assertive when feeling emotional rather than aggressive, which means that around family I can tend to be aggressive as my emotions are usually involved!

The only time that I am passive is if I honesty don't care and am with someone who is aggressive about something I don't care about. All of my closest friends IRL are all assertive or aggressive and I love that!

I think passive aggressive is the style chosen by unhappy, frustrated or angry people.

I become VERY passive aggressive when i am not happy.

But when I am in a good place i am assertive and not so passive.

I agree - I am mostly assertive, but depending on the topic or how much you've p*ssed me off, I'll be aggressive.

I'm never passive aggressive - except on here maybe twice to people who deserved it

ETA: most of the time i just DGAF, I'm too laid back for most crap. So people would see me as passive in that sense, if they don't know me.
