    Default question

Hi - hope this is the right spot to put this question - my son is nearly 9 months old and will not sit still when I'm trying to read to him. He loves books, loves to flick the pages, loves to chew on them but he will not sit or lie still.
I have tried lying on the floor next to him and holding the book above us, I have had him sitting on my lap, standing at my feet, sitting next to him and holding the book out in front - NOTHING will stop him from constantly being on the go.

I've just got the point where I read the story out loud to him and HOPE that he's listening to me while he goes on his mission around the room. I know he's exploring but even when it's getting to chill out time (just before a nap) - he still won't be still.

    Any suggestions????

I've started reading to my five year old cause he has shown interest and now teaching him to read.
My three and 18month old in the room and won't sit there either but I guess they are listening.
I read those board books with picture and words to my 18month old. I manage to do a few pages before she moves onto something else.

thanks for that ladies - just being first child - I'm in such unfamiliar territory. I'll keep on with my reading aloud to him - hopefully he will follow my love of books and not his daddies!!

    Have a great day!

Oh hon! my DD is exactly the same! (except she tries to rip the pages out of the books too) I havent been able to read her a story AND show her the pics since she was 4 months old.

I turn the TV off, give her some board books to play with on the floor, lay on the lounge and hold the book out of reach and read it. I hope shes listening too.

P.S HOW FUN ARE KIDS BOOKS! DD has the golden spine book collection. and i forgot how much i loved those books. Reading about 3 day to her at the moment.
Walk a mile in someones' shoes before you judge them,
that way, when you do judge them,
you are a mile away.. and you have their shoes.
