    Hi horseluva,

Are you were aware that GU has dropped their post graduate 12 month midwifery program? To do mid after nursing from 2012 at GU, you will have to come into the 3 year BMid degree and apply for credits from your nursing degree (there aren't a lot). Also, as flowerfae has pointed out, many uni's have dropped their dual nursing/midwifery degrees too.

I think you will find this is a VIC thing only. 60% of the midwifery students were not offered a grad position in vic this year! I haven't heard of it being an issue till this year. Has me freaking out big time as i am in VIC and should graduate next year. So am doing my best to ensure i am supporting those girls/writing letters etc to ensure there is more spots available next year. Pretty much here, if you don't get a grad year you don't get work. But i believe other states are much better. I was speaking to our coordinator the other day and she said a number of the girls are moving interstate and have secured grad positions in SA, NT, QLD and NSW. It is the only way they have been able to get them.

I've been told my placement hospital in QLD has limited grad positions & I'll be trying to get one once I finish next year.

Pretty sure ACU still does post grad midwifery. And if you have to do the bmid completely, you end up with roughly 18months off the course.

    Yep..... It's an iPhone
